Decades after the fall of the Third Reich, it feels impossible to understand how Adolf Hitler, the tyrant who orchestrated one of the largest genocides in human history, could ever have risen to power in a democratic country. So how did it happen, and could it happen again? Alex Gendler and Anthony Hazard dive into the history and circumstances that allowed Hitler to become Führer of Germany.
Lesson by Alex Gendler and Anthony Hazard, animation by Uncle Ginger.

This is a good summary, however the role of France and England in forcing war reparations upon Germany - as if Germany were solely responsible for WWI - and redistributing German colonies amongst themselves, should not be ignored. In contrast, the US President Wilson behaved far more responsibly, refusing to take over German colonies.

not quite... "Sturmabteilung" translates to "Stormdivision or Stormsection". "Sturmtruppen" (the literal translation of Stormtroopers) were actual German units that fought during WW1. They were elite units specifically trained to storm enemy fortifications...hence the name...They were used to great effect on the eastern Front (especially by Generalfeldmarschall August von Mackensen - the famous "Last Hussar") they weren't as effective on the western Front, although Erwin Rommel did break through the French lines at Chemin des Dames with the use of Stormtroopers units and his Royal Württemberg Mountaineer ("Königlich Württembergisches Gebirgskorp") troops... although he eventually had to fall back because his supply lines were in danger, as the rest of the imperial army hadn't been able to keep up...

I think he got it from The Roman Empire because the Romans were at war and they gave Caesar emergency powers. There were some other connections but I forgot. The Imperial Army was based of the Nazis but the rise of power I believe is connection with Rome.

The emperor - Wh40k they joined the military to “defend” their country (even though they are sent to fight bogus wars to protect Israel). Without them, Americans would be defenseless and as the single most powerful free nation in the world, America especially needs a strong army. Anyways, when they come back, they would most likely have PTSD and it is incredibly hard to get a job if you are mentally ill. And many people like employers (or you) have biases against vets for doing their job. They have already done their duty and should of course continue to serve the country but they have to be helped getting back on their feet. The people owe them that much.

Shan Oakley Is it because I used the word "globalist"? Political ideologues who want to create a world with no borders, where people can and are encouraged to live wherever they want, who want to disavow the very existence of racial and ethnic groups and are ready to undermine the existing social and cultural cohesive structures that keep societies together and in harmony; these people are globalists. And their ideology is mad and dangerous. It goes counter to human nature. Their staunch refusal to accept the truth and stubborn insistence on their ideologies will only serve to plunge the world into chaos, and in the case of Europe also irreversibly destroy our very identity and people by importing foreign elements who share none of our values but want all the fruits of our civilisation. This is the political ideology that pervades, indeed poisons the political elite in the world today; it is the world view that Hillary and her kind support; it is the world view that thinks the only antidote to racism is to destroy all manifestation of different races of human beings by no more subtle tool than total miscegenation and the negation of over 2000 years of magnificent history.

Canada is considered to be a socialist country by American standard due to our "free" health care, and we have the same living standard as Americans - arguably even better knowing that you don't have to stress if your health fails. Also, how can you argue that Bernie is a fascist when he wants nothing to do with the military? Bernie is not the guy who suggested to bring back water boarding, nor propose to torture and kill civilians associated with terrorists, nor suggest carpet bomb to raze entire cities, nor ban Muslims nor suggest to INTERN them. Bernie is a peace loving tree hugger, arrested in his younger days for a rally he genuinely support. Do you even know what fascism is? Sure, Bernie wants "more" government control, but that's only to allocate the resources of the USA and invest it in healthcare, education and ultimately the American people.

Sadly, it is an inherent flaw of Democracy. If the people are blinded by fear, anger, and/or hate, they make irrational decisions based on revenge. Humanity, learn not to hate, but to forgive. Revenge after revenger, the blood shed will never end, unless if one side decides to forgive, or if one side was to die. But the surviving side will not be held as heros, but tyrants, and the world will turn against them. Thus adding more blood shed. Our humanity is cursed, because we love. Because we love, we hate. We divide amongst ourselves as enemies and allies. Them and us. Humans are powerful creatures, but fragile in heart. Ignorant in mind, but wise in spirit. A society that fights among themselves is destined to fall. Unless it learns to love and forgive itself.

This is what it takes for people to hold irrational beliefs that can potentially end up as totalitarian dictatorships (as shown by history) 1. Fear based on bigotry through biased POVs, with no scientific or objective facts, especially about a minority to be seen as a thread against a majority who blame everything on them as a way to find one only guilty for their complex social problems. 2. Beliefs in conspiracy theories with no real basis, such as people who believe there's an elite, or an agenda, splitting history of facts into sided opinions, to satify their information bias, unable to see things objectively due to their mental slant, ironically labeling every other's opinion as 'biased' for the same reason even if they offer them irrefutable facts. It's called the "backfired effect", and it's a cognitive bias. People won't accept they're wrong even if you show them proofs. 3. A lack of sense of control when a situation seems to be critical or there must be a big change. 4. Demagogy of a leader who tells people what they want to hear by promising everything will be better and saying that he/she will put THEM first instead of the "thread", offering people a sense of control and making them think that he/she really cares about them, even if their promises are unrealistic.

Hitler proved human beings are sheep with a herd mentality who lack the rational thinking required to distinguish between stereotypes and reality. Nazism was a political cult. North Korea is a political cult. What can we do to change the way ordinary people think in order to destroy all cults and all forms of group thinking? people where I live already call him the Hitler of the 21. century. and no , they are not Democrats neither republican. they just agree that his way is awfully similar to something we all remember.

"they just agree that his way is awfully similar to something we all remember." - than that is their problem. And I have no idea who actually remembers anything from those times. Most people comparing him to Hitler were not alive during WW2. History rarely repeats itself even though in unclear moments such as these certain groups come out to warn us about history repeating itself. It is really easy to make a posteriori claims once the dust has settled and make it seem how clear it all was. During the events, things are seldom as clear as some make them out to be after the events.

All news is local. People care more about news around them rather than a far. Turkey restrictions on internet helps cull motivation to reduce corruption.

I'd say it sounds like America after 9-11, replace jews with whites and muslims, democrats and republicans, and the PATRIOT Act, also the bias of the media.

This is an obvious bias video that encourages people to think of Trump while the narrator speaks of Hitler.

YuJin Kim Perhaps the drugs you take have taken your short term memory, But let me help you out.... it was YOU... yes YOU who wrote "if Trump didn't do the same then he wouldn't be accused" hmmmm so are your incapable of reading what you wrote and sticking with it... ??? Or do you now see how far you are from any LOGICAL conclusion that a video about HITLER would imply or be a narrative of Donald Trump. Are you that desperate to link a mass murder with a presidential personality? And as far as predictions go.... you don't need the simple to show up when any video that depicts a murderer because you can ALWAYS count on the liberal sheep to show up and play victim. Don't bother responding... post is muted.
