I, too am a descendant. My ancester, John Howland, was famous for falling overboard in a storm while trying to take down a sail. Fortunately he grabbed a line while falling and was pulled back on board. He married a young girl, Elizabeth Tilley, who was also a passenger and who lost her parents in that terrible first winter. They had 10 children, so there are lots of Howland descendants! His son's house (where, I believe, he died) has been preserved in Plymouth and is now open to the public.

This story is fascinating - I live in South Buckinghamshire, England. The original Mayflower ship, according to a historian, was broken up and made into a barn called the Mayflower barn, in the village of Seer Green & Jordan (which is in South Bucks). It was a popular tourist attraction until a rich chap bought the land and closed it to the public. The area since has slightly lost its tourism, but is well worth a visit, as its only 20/30 mins from famous Windsor, and a 40 minute train from London. I do still bump into Americans in the local villages around here, and for anyone wanting to visit this area and see the country, I would recommend staying in either Beaconsfield, Windsor, Penn Village (linked to Pennsylvania) or Marlow :)

I could be wrong but when explaining history arent you supposed to start from the beginning with all the facts? What happened when they landed? What about slaving the indigenous people? If that makes you mad, ask yourself why your mad at facts?

@@chrisppx there was a ship, May Flower and the crew settling in Plymouth and in the first winter they got help from natives. Later on, the tribe had a conflict with other tribes and these pilgrims helped the tribe to fight agaisnt all. The tribe taught these pilgrims how to cultivate corns and other crops. Besides, there was a group spending this winter on the ship with the supply brought from Europe and at the middle of the winter they run out of food and the pilgrims provided them so that they can survive...

@Oldgoat912
@Oldgoat912 3 жыл бұрын
I am afraid hat some of the information in your video is wrong. The Mayflower was a THREE-masted sailing vessel. The fore-mast is the front mast, the middle mast is the main-mast and the rear mast is the mizzen-mast. The front leaning spar is the bow-sprint and is not considered a mast. You might want to correct your video, you don't want people to think you do not know what you are talking about.
