Mortal Kombat 1 - Who Should Return In The New Era?!

And welcome back to another Mortal Kombat 1 video!
With us having settled Into that of the new, as well as us having covered the missing and mentioned characters within It, It now naturally brings us onto the question of who should return? And how could they possibly be written Into that of the new timeline?
Because with the new leadership, changes and alterations, we know have the ability to rewrite particular characters, and completely change the direction of which they could go In, It makes for a pretty interesting and open way to approach these character, taking them in completely new and what I would say Is an interesting direction for that of the characters!

Here are some characters I would like to see in DLC: Cobra: Given the new timeline he would be a perfect fit to get introduced as kind of a wildcard. While we get to know his MK1 persona he could play a bigger role in Titan Havicks entourage and maybe even get a Streetfighter skin. And then there is also the possibility to give him a Cobra Kai skin to get a bit of crosspromotion going. Kintaro: We got Goro and Sheeva as DLC and I think it would be due time to give Kintaro some time to shine. This would also be an opportunity to give us a glimpse into the state of the Shokan clan system. Drahmin: Fans wanted him to be part of MK1, but he did not get a role on the main roster. So DLC is good opportunity for him. He could be part of Havicks forces and play a punching bag in their forces, while the counterpart of Liu Kangs timeline can slowly gain power and rise to a prominent role in the Netherrealm. NRS can have the cake and eat it making one version of him into a punching bag, while the main timeline counterpart becomes way more threatening. Sektor: With him being mentioned in the MK1 ladder endings there is a good chance to get a first look at the start of the Cyber Lin Kuei in the DLC. Sektor would be ideal for that. And the Fans always want the Cyborgs. D'Vorrah: Unpopular opinion, but I like D'Vorrah as a bad guy. I always had the opinion most people hate her mostly because she was the one killing Fan Favorites of the series. They hated her for being effective. Getting to kill Melina and Hanzo brought her hate she didn't deserve. I always thought she was a perfect fit for Mortal Kombat. She brings something unique to MK. Being the Queen of a Hive unlike Ermac, who is a collection of souls. As well as having a disgusting insect look to her. She is good bad guy people can hate for what she is. If I’m Argus, I would send Blaze to assassinate Shao Kahn and all sorts of threats. That would have solved a lot of problems instead of killing everyone in Armageddon.

The problem though is the One Being. If its chosen one is no longer worthy as a puppet, the One Being will move to the next puppet. Shao Kahn was the One Being's chosen one in the 1st and 2nd timelines. Shao Kahn succeeded in Armageddon, but failed in MK9 so the One Being began backing Shinnok for MK X. After Shinnok was dealt with, Shao Kahn was brought back by Kronika in MK 11. Even though there is no evidence, we may presume the One Being may have influenced Kronika behind the scenes and Shao Kahn almost succeeded in Aftermath until he was cut short by Shang Tsung. We could presume the One Being may have gave Shao a second chance in the 2nd timeline until he died again. The defeat of Kronika would spell the start of the MK multiverse and now a whole bunch of timelines from the 2nd timeline and new era are in konflict. We might presume the One Being is still around in the new era first backing Titan Shang Tsung and now Titan Havik since Shao's history was rewritten to make him no longer a konqueror in the new era. The One Being may have influence of other unknown titans from the 2nd timeline set to invade the new era. There might even be a new era version of the One Being to go with the one from the 2nd timeline. tl;dr - Don't count out the One Being.

@Ngamer01 I forget that their's a God stronger than Elder Gods and Titans. Armageddon was a setup but they did a reboot lol. I think when Onaga dragged Shao Khan away, someone must've gave him strength to rise and beat Onaga to come back to a weaken Blaze and whatever combatants left which he'd kill Blaze thus stealing the power, finishing off everyone left except for Raiden then reboot Edit: different studios which is why remake but still lol

Argus was a schizo. His logic was: The apocalypse is unavoidable, so I will cause the apocalypse in order to prevent it and make my sons participate in a tournament where if they succeed, they will either cause the apocalypse or have no effect (I will also not tell which one will have what ending)

Characters like Chameleon, Meat, Mokap or Moloch aren't ever coming back as playable characters most likely kameos if that's the tradition going forward in every MK game but characters like Hotaru, Taven, Daegon etc should return back playable.

I know it's controversial, but I'd really like to see a Sonya become part of the black dragon, partnered with Kano going against Jax. Personally, I think it's a bit weird that we have only seen evil characters become good in the new tineline and not really seen any good characters go evil. I know the Sindel retcon from 11 probably has a lot to do with it, they're probably scared of the backlash, but, honestly I think if it was done right it could do well instead of just being a random change to a character

Loved the video. While I do think the New Era allows us to explore characters in a new way with familiar elements, they didn't pull of too well when it came to certain characters for example Tanya. I strongly feel that she should've had something to do with covering up Jerrod's murder/corrupting the Umgadi. I mean her being Umgadi (which takes first-born children and indoctrinates them to serve the royals) would be a great catalyst for her to betray them. She could see her betraying them as her reclaiming her freedom and perhaps the other sisters agree with her. This forms a splinter faction within the Umgadi with Tanya weaving a web of lies and deceit as they undermine the royals. In this way, Tanya retains her old identity while at the same time, we see where she's coming from. She doesn't want this life because she didn't choose it. Mixing in what you said about Jade and we have an interesting and familiar dynamic. I would love it if Jade confronted Tanya and said, "Still alive, deceiver"

I really want to see Blaze return asap! We have only gotten to know him in the last 3 PS2 era games and the end of the first timeline I don’t want a fighter like him to just be locked away until needed. Since Onaga might return soon so should Blaze and I would like to see Hotaru return and go after Rain and try to carry out his death penalty since he feels like just locking hin up for life is too easy. Could you do a vid on the death trap stages from decption and Armageddon I really want to see those stages return in the series.

Very good ideas there. Honestly, if NRS would go for the Umgadhi subpot(solving Jarrod's murder), this would be a great reintroduction of Skarlet. Whether she would be born of blood magic or someone in the elite group and was involved with the emperor's death can be interesting. Maybe one of few disgruntled or greedy who wanted to usurp the Outworld throne, but eventually sides with Shang or Quan Chi and Obtain blood magic. The possibilities.

I think Jade is the Head Mistress of the Outworld Sorcerer's Academy or at least the daughter of who ever is. Kotal definitely needs some redemption, I could see him just being a high ranking soldier in Kitana's new army but a General for Shao could work as well. I think Hotaru probably will try to enforce order in Outworld, I can see him butting heads with Li Mei and the Umgadi. I could also see him trying to take Mileena's hand in marriage in hopes to become the new Emperor of Outworld.

Noob Saibot is my favourite character from the Mortal Kombat franchise. I want Noob Saibot to be playable in all future Mortal Kombat games. I also like Noob Saibot because I am obsessed with the concept of portals. Noob Saibot can open up portals at will. I can use Noob Saibot to defeat Shao Khan on Expert difficulty when I am playing against the computer. I can use Noob Smoke to get flawless victory most of the time when I am playing agains the computer in Mortal Kombat deception. Playing the character Noob Saibot has made playing Mortal Kombat 9 very addictive. If an opponent blocks Noob Saibots’ teleport slam then I can use Noob Saibot to uppercut the opponent that blocked Noob Saibot’s teleport slam. Shao Khan is inferior compared to Noob Saibot. Noob Saibot can easily defeat Shao Khan in Mortal Kombat 9. Noob Saibot is very powerful. Mortal Kombat is the mother of all fighting games. Mortal Kombat is the only fighting game that we need all the other fighting games are inferior to Mortal Kombat and are often poor imitations of Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat is the best figithing game of all time and I hope that people are still playing Mortal Kombat games 1000 years from now. If I had enough money I would pay 1 billion pounds to ensure that people are still playing Mortal Kombat games 1000 years from now. MORTAL KOMBAT IS THE ONLY FIGHTING GAME THAT I NEED. The Mortal Kombat tournament was created to prevent chaos because without the Mortal Kombat tournament Superior beings would invade and conquer inferior worlds without justification and mercy. If a world has lost 10 consecutive tournaments then that world can be legally enslaved by the winning empire. I like Mortal Kombat because I am obsessed with the concept of accessing portals. I also like the concept of portals being guarded by the Shadow priests. Mortal Kombat has got very a rich mythology and that is 1 of the reasons why Mortal Kombat MUST stay with us forever. The story of Mortal Kombat has been written very well and that is 1 of the keys to the success of the Mortal Kombat franchise. ALL THE OTHER FIGHTING GAMES SUCH AS STREET FIGHTER AND TEKKEN ARE WEAK AND INFERIOR COMPARED TO MORTAL KOMBAT. I DO NOT EVEN WASTE MY TIME TRYING TO PLAY OTHER FIGHTING GAMES BECAUSE MORTAL KOMBAT IS THE BEST FIGHTING GAME OF ALL TIME. Street fighter is rubbish compared to Mortal Kombat. I’ve heard a theory recently that with Tanya being the loyal bodyguard and friend of the Edenian princesses in this timeline, in this timeline Countess Jade could fill Tanya’s usual role of the traitorous villain, she has power already but she wants more, maybe even allying with Shao in MK2 maybe under the promise of being Shao’s wife and the future empress. Yes, this would bastardise Jade’s character but it’d give her more of her own character outside of just being Kitana’s friend without shoehorning a random romance out of nowhere.

There is another character you forgot about that was named dropped in MK1 and that is Sheeva. Like Kotal she was one of the combatants of the Mortal Kombat tournament that lost too Raiden. What are your thoughts on her story @historybehindthewarrior ? As for introes Kia, Jataaka, Drahmin and Moloch has been suggested to be dead by Ashrah. But I can still see them coming back. Well at least Drahmin and Moloch, which in the comics at least fought alongside Quan Chi (the introes suggests that too). I would also like to see Meat come back because if Quan Chi has his army of demons like Drahmin and Moloch. Then Shang Tsung should have his own army too and Meat could be his first of many creations he makes to create that army. In fact with his collection of souls him having an army of golems (whether stone, wood or flesh) makes sense for him. Also I would love to see Mokap come back but without the Telekinesis. Maybe he can use special effects gear to allow him to mimic the other fighters. Which to me makes better sense as he is meant to represent the actors and other people that helped created the characters in the game. Naturally he would be a employee of Johnny Cage

Kotal was also made into another off screen jobber during Raiden’s chapter, Sindel states that he already defeated most of Sindel’s champions including him, Motaro, and Sheeva. I think it could be time where Kotal undergoes a villain arc where he used to be the voice of morality but ultimately decides to embrace his Oshtek heritage and “harden his heart” entirely. We do need more villains and antagonists to help push the story forward and making Kotal more barbaric would both bolster Shao’s army, create drama between him and Countess Jade, and explore an alternative narrative for his story. This is also a personal take but I’d also like to see some kind of rivalry between Skarlet and Reiko, just because Reiko is the son Shao never had and Skarlet had a weird Electra complex with him in MK 11. It would at least help flesh out the jobbers in this game and have something to follow up if Reiko does (and probably will) die from Onaga.

The idea suggested for Jade is very good and the Hotaru one is a no-brainer they simply MUST do. Kall me weird, but I think Taven and/or Daegon should get a second try. Taven was admittedly a plain hero held up by the enormity of his story and we ill need another fire kharacter, but tweaking his abilities and the possibilities of the New Era feel like they kould give justice to a guy who had his only story pulled out from under him. Kai was also done dirty, but he has the problem of over-abundant fire characters AND the role of Liu Kang's disciple being filled by Raiden. He may require too much tweaking to even feel like the same guy anymore.

I'd love to see Kotal and Jade again, especially if they're a power couple like in MK11. It's interesting in that as adult and over-the-top as MK is, it kind feel a little chaste at times. Yeah, people will have skimpy outfits, but there isn't a whole lot of talk of adult relationships. I don't necessarily mean sexual relationships, but I don't NOT mean sexual relationships, either. So seeing the two of them together again would be nice on multiple levels.

I would like to see Kai return as part of the next class of the White Lotus under the direction of Raiden and King Lao The jade set up was perfect but I don’t want her to be a villain. Jade, Taegon and Daegon can all return as the other part of the court we haven’t met all with different ideas of how things should be ran which creates turmoil with the princesses and Umgadi. Kotal is brought in as Reiko’s replacement immediately set on a mission to infiltrate and enslave the Kytiin. Bringing D’Vorah back to the forefront. Sonya, Stryker, Kabal, and Jax reappear because they are in investigation of a RICO they are trying to establish against Kano, Mavado, Kira, and Kobra.

I like jade but would like a return of nightwolf, sareena would be cool as a playable character, skarlet i loved when she first came out the brutality of her moves and sexy looks but the redesign I hated and would to see her return, kabal I use to main alot in his first appearance and loved the way he played, ermac and sector I loved playing as well. characters never used or used once but would liked to see one day, kira, jataaka, delia, moloch, kintaro, erron black, and tremor

Just letting you guys know, this comment may contain spoilers from MK1. I think before we can know if Kotal will return we have to consider how his entire species and culture may have been retconned. After all we have seen that species such as the Shokan seems to have stayed the same, while the Tarkata and the Zaterans were completely retconned. What does that say for other species such as the Ochtechs and the Kaytin? Regarding Blaze, I think if Liu Kang really did his homework, the character simply shouldn't exist. Furthermore, his original story was tied to the pyramid of Argus, and technically we already saw the pyramid in MK1; it's obviously not the same pyramid, but basically it was the same plot element.

Taven and Blaze are great characters They just need a better writing. Jade already played a big role in MK11, unlike Sareena who really needs a REAL comeback and more unique moves/fatalities. I wanna see Sonya & Jax too. I'm pretty sure they aren't Special Forces in this timeline. What if they are LOVERS? I'd love to see that
