The Battle of Mogadishu, also known as the Black Hawk Down Incident, was part of Operation Gothic Serpent. It was fought on 3-4 October 1993, in Mogadishu, Somalia, between forces of the United States against the forces of the Somali National Alliance (SNA) As the operation was ongoing, Somali forces shot down three American Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters using RPG-7s, with two crashing deep in hostile territory. A desperate defense of the two downed helicopters began and fighting lasted through the night to defend the survivors of the crashes. In the morning, a UNOSOM II armored convoy fought their way to the besieged soldiers and withdrew, incurring further casualties but rescuing the survivors.

3:07 "This is the worst rescue operation in history!" Is from Episode 13 (1:34) of Freeman's Mind by Accursed Farms. It follows Gordon Freeman from the Half Life series. Gordon is known to be 27 years old during the Black Mesa Incident on May 16 200X, which means he was born as early as 1973 and as late as 1982. A PhD takes about 6 years to earn, and 4 for a Bachelors degree, but I think its safe to assume Gordon started and finished his education early. The US military allows and encourages enlisted members to take college courses, which in the early 90s would've been correspondence courses. An active duty enlistment in the US Army can be as little as 2 years, but 4 is the average. 17 is the earliest age you can enlist, with the expectation you turn 18 before completing Advanced Individual Training (Boot Camp Part 2). Assuming Gordon graduated high school early, turned 18 sometime before or during Initial Entry Training (Basic & AIT), its plausible he served during Operation Gothic Serpent. If he took correspondence courses while enlisted, got out at 21, and completed his education at MIT, plus some time at Innsbruck, he could be at Black Mesa in time for the Incident with an enlistment in the US Special Operations Command under his belt. This would explain his survival instincts and familiarization with a large variety of weapons (and the intuition to handle unfamiliar alien weaponry). Gordon Freeman was a special forces operator during Op Gothic Serpent.

UNOSOM II were deployed after US Forces failed to do rescue missions for more than third times in which consists of 2 Pakistanis tanks and a huge convoys of Malaysian Armed Forces' Condor APCs. While approaching the crash site of Super 61 and Super 64 near Bakara market, SNA keep shooting the convoys that resulted Pakistani tanks to flee, leaving only Malaysian convoys to rescue them. One Condor APC was hit by the rpg, killing the driver and left others severely injured.
