Want to see a fundamentalist completely freak out and short-circuit? Point out to them that the only actual "war on Christmas" was waged by their fellow Christians.

I've always wondered how houses didn't catch on fire from all of those candles on the tree.
@HistorysForgottenPeople Жыл бұрын
Sadly, a lot of them did! A common household Christmas accident was actually the long gowns of ladies catching on fire as they brushed past the tree, and quite often there were house fires caused by leaving the candles burning too long. I bet they were pleased when the first fairy lights were invented!

My mother wanted everything down by January 3rd while she had us kids there to do it for her 😂

lol My parents wouldn't even let the decorations hang around that long! When Christmas was over, it was OVER! (all the better to countdown to next year, my dear!) 🙄

As long as there are others to take them down, I guess! 😂 We always do the 6th Jan (just family tradition), but really it ends up being the weekend after when I can be bothered, haha.

@@HistorysForgottenPeople Jan.6 is the Epiphany, the 12th day of Christmas. It is the Feast of the Three Kings as it was believed it took them 12 days to arrive in Bethlehem to see the baby Jesus. We usually waited for Jan.6 to take down our tree.

I have officially decided to keep mine up all year as I am in no way close to finishing bedecking the walls ...for 2022. I will continue and hopefully be done by next Christmas.

Ours are still up today! Coming down tomorrow though (6th) I hate it. Means Christmas is really over 😢

Ours came down fully last night, although our tree - sadly - was down before New Year's Day thanks to our new kitten who wouldn't leave it alone, haha. It's so sad when they come down and everything is bare again!

@@HistorysForgottenPeople - it will come around again before you know it! But I know, it will look so bare. I’m dreading it!

Right? I'm all on board with equality and governing for the people by the people, but banning Christmas was too far! 🎅

@@HistorysForgottenPeople well I'm American and I have native American ancestry so I'm not a huge fan of the Puritans lol pretty sure they all also converted to Southern Baptist 😆😆😆 YUCK

Puritans suck! And their hypocrites. They left England came to America going to be just as judgmental of anyone who didn't think the way they did, especially the local native tribes!
