History With Hilbert yes it's interesting to think that Henry VIII might never have been King had the tall & handsome young Arthur not died at 15, and I wonder just how different things might have gone. Plus the fact that Catherine was Arthur's wife before Henry had his go just makes one feel rather sorry for him..!

Thanks a lot for this useful video. I am researching Richard III and I am reading a wonderful book called "Shakespeare and the Remains of Richard III". So...in chapter one, the author discusses body politics during Medieval and Renaissance England, more precisely how royal corpses were discursively manipulated to convey certain politically-correct assumptions so as to legitimate the current king. And there was an interesting connection between Richard III, Cardinal Wolsey, and Henry VIII. I obviously didn't have any idea who Wolsey was and here you are, with your wonderful, concise video that really shed some light on this topic for me. Really saved me some time and made the researching process go smoothly. Thanks! Really grateful, Hilbert! :)

Min 3:00 "So, Wolsley immediately sets out to do what Henry wants him to do". Is in my perspective, an erroneous statement. Wolsley's art and the key to his meteoric rise lies on his capacity to accommodate the chess pieces in a way that would benefit him, without saying "no" to the king, at least not directly. He was great at managing Henry.

Yes and no, some things would be different and specific to the region with local gods for local features such as certain rivers and forests have specific gods although from what we can tell the core pantheon and beliefs were similar. I'm a big fan of your work, but your videos would be even better if you wrote out a script. That way you could avoid all the "I'm not sure, I'll have to look it up" type comments which bring down an otherwise entertaining and informative discussion. Sorry to be a bit negative, otherwise your stuff is great. :)

Hi Dave! Thanks for the feedback and support, I really appreciate it! I have been writing scripts for many of my videos but not for this one (as you can tell) because writing scripts takes a lot of time and feels a little restricting (I do like going off on the odd tangent), although it would stop the having to look things up and the stuttering as you say :)

That's fine, I'm just one of those pedants who finds myself filling in the gaps or saying to myself "He got that wrong". But 99% of the video was spot on and even though I can't help unconsciously noting vagueness and the rare inaccuracy, most people don't care, as long as a video is informative and entertaining, which your work certainly is.

Had to give you a thumbs down - a praemunire is a decree which prevents appeals being to a higher authority with a matter which can be dealt with locally. For example Ferdinand I issued a praemunire against Jews appealing their cases to the pope when the inquisitorial courts can competently resolve cases with regard to Jews. Those who violated Ferdinand's praemunire were executed. Praemunire have been issued by barons counts against appeals to higher lords not necessarily regarding appeals to the pope.
