Why does lightning always strike from one point? Several at once and from one point. AND ALL TO THE GROUND!!! This is not like ATMOSPHERIC electricity. Usually there are many discharges INSIDE the cloud, but rarely into the ground. What do you think?

We got hit here in the Hunter Valley last night. Developed last night. It arrived here around about 8pm. Not sure if it was a supercell then though. We did get 80kph winds and loads of lightning. It must have been pretty close to one. I had just left Pimba and couldn't see to drive so pulled into the Island Lagoon viewing area. Hail and stones going vertical punched out 6 of my windows in seconds. Ute in front of me flipped onto its side and 5 kms down the Stuart Highway a Tanami Livestock Road Train was also flipped onto its side! So it was pretty powerful.
