I recently got a pair on discount. Love the responsiveness. My one concern is that from the very beginning when i tried the shoes on, the left one was making a clicking sound with every step. Then I went for a 10k run and the noise increased. Now it isn't just a click, but also a squeaky sound with each step. Has someone else experienced the same? Some redditors suggest that a rod might be broken. That would be such a shame as I literally used the shoe once for that 10k. The performance isnt compromised at all as far as I know. It is just the annoying sound

No surprise that a 26yr old died of cardiac arrest on the run and sad that the organisers have not responded to all the negative feedback and made the start time earlier next year. Portway on a hot day is a death stretch. Apparently there was a lot of people needing medical support as the final wave was apparently after 11:30. I would never risk my life for this run. You'd think given the experience of the organisers, they'd have some common sense.

Did all my races and “fast” work in the effective Adios 1 before Vaporflys so was pleased to see a few pairs of these in my UK 13.5 late last night and picked up a pair. Was thinking could be for some intervals on firm trails or track as I often did with these in past. Besides looks like could be my lightest “Road” shoe.

Interesting observation on this shoe being like the old Takumi Sen (pre 8) and the new Takumi Sen being the Adios. Also... CPU outsoles are bulletproof...the outsole on this shoe should be the most durable part of it. If it is like other CPU outsoles the shoe should be falling apart before the outsole even shoes any wear at all. I'll be curious on your thoughts on the AP4 when you get one.

Time will tell on the outsole. It seems to have improved after some use. Better than the evo sl. The exposed midsole is the issue on that shoe

Great review as always! I will probably skip this one and probably pick up another adios 8 on discount. I loved the 8 for track sessions and shorter races. This one with the narrow heal, just seems less stable. Maybe I’ll try it down the line when the 9 is on sale as it’s hard to argue with the price.

Ed. Can I offer some criticism? Lately you may not always be reviewing based on intended use case, and I remember a few years ago you raved and rated the adios 7 as one of your favorite shoes of that year. Now it’s been upgraded from regular LS and now it’s full LSP. But the use case is a racer. If you don’t like that type of a shoe, you shouldn’t knock the ratings because it has a thin heel, or whatever. The use case for this shoe should be on its own scale. Can you categorize your scale based on intended use? No racer flats have fat heels, right? The adios 7 was niche and you loved it. I just don’t understand this review when you compare your reaction to its breathren.

Entry-level Adios isn't a heel striker's shoe (the message was a bit faded with Adios 8, but it was loud and clear with Adios 6/7). From a tactical point of view, now that entry-level Adios finally weighs less than Takumi Sen, it starts making more sense.

Im currently running most of my daily and speed ks in the adios 8. Unfortunately the 9 doesnt look like it will be up to that task. The outsole looks to be much more minimal. It looks an awesome shoe but i dont think it can do the low stack daily stuff that the 8 was great for.

I'm definitely p1§§3d off by the marketing policy Adidas has lately been up. You can't tease thousands of potential customers giving a zillion pairs of shoes to reviewers one year before they're actually available for sale (at full retail price, of course), maybe through a stupid lottery shitstem. Adidas, you're not selling the Holy Grail ! Only damn running shoes ... Shame on you. After this well deserved rant, I'd say the Adios 9 is a shoe I'd had planned to buy, when and if ever available to the general public...
