The stove fire risk is just an unofficial homage to the Sims! You should embrace this and install carpeting near your Stove/oven 😀

Funny enough, my first b42 character died almost the same way, I started in Echo Creek and went over to Riverside for books and tapes, there were just too many zombies around even in just Riverside

been playing this game off and on since it was greenlit, and for the first time, i am save scumming - and, found it to be so much more enjoyable to play as i no longer get shafted by insanely dumb mechanics like perspectives, objects blocking line of sights, zombie spawn mechanics, and bugs (trailers flipping your car over out of nowhere). and for once, i am surviving 6+ months abet the save scum, but man, the game is just frustrating when you die to things that is out of your hands especially when you take so much precautions. not saying you should, BUT, if you ever want save states, just copy your project zombiod save folder to a another location.

I started using the journal mod after about 1700 hours in 41. I'm just over the grinding and with the added grind in 42 I'm just not likely to even try it until stable is done. You still have the punishment of possibly losing all your stuff in a massive horde or wondering off, losing all or gaining all your weight back, destroying all your gear etc.. so you still have the incentive to be careful which I find better then a backup save.

There are lots of mods that do that for ya too

Sure, if you leave it there for a long time. I left it there a few minutes. If you think a few minutes of overheating should burn a base down I disagree with you.
