Mrs. Cannon-Hughes (Greer) visits a lawyer, Paul Brett (Webber), to tell him of her suspicions that her husband Gilbert Hughes (Smith) murdered his first wife. Soon afterward, Gilbert dies, supposedly of suicide. Ms. Cannon and Brett begin a relationship and get married, but when Brett accidentally discovers that Ms. Cannon killed both Gilbert and his first wife, Ms. Cannon kills him as well.

Hitchcock didn't write the AHP stories, the point of the show was to highlight other writers. This is just competent writing, we don't have that in cinema today.

A wife can't testify against her husband? I thought that it was "A wife can't be forced to testify against her husband"? But a wife CAN testify against her husband, as long as she wasn't forced to do so.

That was Robert Webber. One of his earliest movie roles was as a juror in the picture, Twelve Angry Men, starring Henry Fonda and Lee J. Cobb. You're right, he was very handsome.

He found out about the other 2 murders accidentally so she killed him. The second husband was not framed for murder he just happens to have had the truth fall on his lap about his wife being the killer of the first husband and his first wife.

They both used stories from some of the same writers , but I get what you're saying. Two other episodes come to mind for me. The one where the young boys in the neighborhood order mushrooms to grow in the basement and become mind-controlled to harm their parents 🤣 and another where a woman is waking from a realization that she is not a 300lb baby-making machine 😭...I think those are season 4 also

At 9min this reminds me of another episode where a woman told her husband about a dreadful criminal pointing to him "that's the man!" That man died and shortly thereafter she pointed to another "That's the man!" But at 9:15 I see her awake eyes and wonder. BUT at 10 min what a surprize. And 10:20 "If she every learns I suspect, she will certainly kill me." SELF FULFILLING PROPHECY! Oh aren't we krafty!

The other episode you're recalling was in fact the very first in the series, from 1955, called 'Revenge,' starring Ralph Meeker and Vera Miles. It was one of the 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents' episodes which Hitchcock himself directed.
