Fun fact: Sartori was a presidential candidate on the 2019 elections on Uruguay. Losing on the interns to the now-president Luis Lacalle Pou, so, we could have had a president that was also a Sunderland shareholder. Here, he came through as a good guy, but a bit of a populist, the kind of kiss babies and help old men type, but he had good ideas, specially on the economic side, on how try to get the country going again.

@@ttttt44 I feel Donald didn't handle the contract offer very well. I know there wasn't any figures of Sunderland offer on the programme but you can't imagine it was very serious. Lets presume they offered him 1.2k a week. When they signed Grigg. Imagine what his wages would be. 10k? Maybe at a lowest. Not being funny - if I'd seen season two and had any dealings with Metheven's PR Company, I'd immediately look elsewhere - the guy is an absolute pratt. As for the Maja saga - it's a choice between League One, and Ligue 1 - even if the wages were the same, anyone in their right mind would pick the move to a top 5 league instead of staying in the third tier of English football. Seemed like Sunderland, some fans, and the documentary still thought they were a Premier League club, when that simply isn't the case.

Biggest blunder from Season2. They let Maja go, and spent more money on Grigg than what it would’ve taken to keep Maja...that was astounding to watch. There is something fundamentally wrong with that club to be honest. As a Liverpool fan, we heard the dramas of Mike Ashley and Ellis Short and how both were ruining their respective clubs but even under Donald Duck, Sunderland have struggled and indeed find more creative ways to sabotage themselves. Meth head methven came across as a real loony too. Not surprised to hear he has been SACKED. The club fans, sometimes you feel sorry for them but then remember the stories of pooping on seats and the chanting of support for Adam Johnson after news broke of his disgusting deeds. The whole club should shutdown and reform in the lowest league and try to rebuild itself.

Sunderland season ticket holder here with a few things I’d like to point out: Aidan McGeady: Effectively sacked from the club after a dramatic loss of form, he wasn’t putting a shift in on the pitch anymore and after an incident where he allegedly upset most of the squad after binging on McDonalds he then proceeded to litter the changing room with all his wrappers. Charlie Methven: Correct in what you said, however the reason he left was during a meeting with supporters he implied people from the area weren’t as good at business as he and Stewart Donald were purely on the fact they were southerners. Jack Baldwin: In my opinion, unfairly loaned out to Salford City at the start of 19/20. Personally I think overall he is the better player than Flanagan (the other defender brought under scrutiny in the documentary) however let’s nerves get the better of him under pressure Jack Ross: Fair assessment of what happened to him, however it needs pointing out again that with a game or two in hand and only 7 games left we lost more games than we had up until that point in the season following that. 19 draws was no where near good enough, meaning after a 100 point season was the challenge thrown down by the board following the playoff final he had to go after no changes in how we were playing under him at the back end of last season. Will Grigg: Is now depending on formation lucky to make the bench and is effectively 4/5th choice striker.

Cant believe you all hating on Methven. I thought he came across as an amazing leader/ driver and chief executive albeit a bit rude at times. Can see whatever he puts his mind to he'll be successful at. Actually really cared about sunderland succeeding

But they did'nt succeed, was'nt successful at all, and he and Donald were jointly responsible, simple as. The man is an arrogant prick, well cut out for running a PR company......... a bit like Ashleys puppet Keith Bishop at the 'Big Lads up the Road' 🤨

@@Bazooka183 how did he not succeed in his role? Sunderlakd attracted great crowds that season and had relatively good pr at least compared to the seasons prior. thats his direct remit those 2 things there

@@danielhackett1581 If you believe the figures, the home attendances did look impressive in League 1.....but with the top tier not being open, and the gaping empty spaces further down in the stands plain to see...well they tell a slightly different story. Trying to initially endear himself with the Sunderland faithful, he made false and silly accusations regarding Newcastle United, which kind of showed what kind of PR man Donald had brought on board. I believe the new owners thought that Sunderland would find life in the third tier of football a walk in the park, but underestimated how the morale at the club following successive relegations and bottom of the league finishes, had affected the whole infra-structure and operation at SAFC. Once Methven eventually turned his shallow PR directive towards Sunderland and their fans, his game was up!

Sunderland's story would be a lot different if Josh Maja decided himself to stay in the club. He's not much in Girondins now and I wonder if he in a way regrets leaving despite saying in interviews its a positive move.

I don’t think Martin Bain came across that bad. More of an out of his depth man having to deal with a very undesirable set of circumstances rather than someone who didn’t care about the clubs interest. Grabban and Rodwell came out much worse

I quite liked Grabban maybe I'm biased as he came through the palace academy and I'm a palace fan. He seemed cocky but at least he can back it up, if he stayed till the end of the season Sunderland would of probably finished mid table.

I think the critisism towards Martin Bain is a bit uncalled for. Yes, he has nice set of watches, but he seemed a perfectly reasonable guy trying hard to make the best of a bad situation. Compared to Charlie Methven he is calm and collected.
