@@jack0511M he did really well initially but then the lack of experience probably crept in after some time in the job and things started going wrong. Even with experienced managers sometimes they have a couple of off seasons before pulling things around again. Sometimes club's just need to stick with their manager a lot longer and give them a decent amount of time, and understand sometimes you have ups and downs. So much money involved these days though, and fan's have zero patience too. At my club I hope the owners and fans give Howe a good crack of it. Let him build a side over several seasons. if you have seasons of stagnation sometimes it's not all bad. I think Bobby Robson finished 13th, 11th and 11th building the base, until the summer of 2001 and added some of the final pieces and we took off finishing 4th and 3rd getting champions league.

I was at the Burnley game, when at 2-2 I was talking to my partner on the phone in Middlesbrough, when Carlos Edwards scored that thunderbolt and the whole stadium just erupted, 44,000 screaming Sunderland fans and my partner was complaining about the noise and asked what just happened. I managed to tell her that Carlos Edwards had just scored before losing my voice totally. I got home about 1am after the game and was back at work at 5am with no voice and everybody at work was taking the piss out of me, but I didn't care I was so happy that we were promoted. Bare in mind we'd been relegated twice in recent years, both with record-low points tallies. The club had no manager, uncertain investment and a squad in dire need of a lift. In walked Keane and within a few months, results had improved and the mood in the city and the club was completely lifted. He underplays his role in it, I think. The players were the ones on the pitch but it was Keane that was the puppet master pulling the strings, inspiring them every match, From bottom to top in 37 matches. Then he kept us from being relegated and we were signing some quality players, establishing ourselves and really looking to challenge. Of course the board and players helped, but Keane was the catalyst. The two and a half years he was here were a great time to be a Sunderland fan. Lets hope under Alex Neil they are just round the corner again.

I think Keano was not only the best captain in the history of football. But is also has a fantastic mind for the sport. He’s probably one of the only figures left with an old school style of discipline that he implemented from Sir Alex.

Best pundit ever. Legend and a great inspiration imo. No players like him now.

It was a truly incredible achievement, I never felt he got the credit he deserved for it.
