I remember seeing the video on NY Hot Tacks like 3-4 weeks in a row backnin 86 and I finally called the local radio station in DC to play it so I could record it because it was only on Wax in my local record store and I had my 1st Sony Walkman...I was maybe in 3rd grade at the time but already had The Krush Groove Soundtrack, LL's Radio, U.TF.O.'s Skeezer Pleezer and Run DMC's King of Rock and Raising Hell all on cassette.

Let's be clear. This is the first dj to perform the "skip/church scratch on wax.....it was years after that that Jazzy Jeff did the same techniques (no pun) on the Magnificent Jazzy Jeff. Trust me, it had not been heard before by the masses....He came back with it on the Whistle group tracks...same scratch. Unmatchable when it hit. Everyone was trying to replicate it.

Best producer ever. My opinion. Yo How! A few points: 1. Everything he said was absolutely fact. 2. UTFO (known as UFO back then) did choose not to battle us (The Sure Shot 4 mc's) and Howie Tee (Count Disco) 3. Full Force did not discover Howie, just like Christopher Columbus....you know what Im sayin'. He was already THERE! 4. Howie was being very kind and a professional because he left out a few shady situations he had to endure in the music biz. 5. The rap for Get Tough by the CD 3 was written by Tyrone (Ringmaster Little Tee) Johnson. 6. Dash (the 3rd rapper on Get Tough) was from a rival crew - DJ Professor Paul (Pinnock) and the Sinister 6 (from Vanderveer). 7. Carlos Prince Unique was also the Sure Shot 4's manager and went on to join DJ Todd Terry's House Music group Royal House (Can you feel it?) 8. East Flatbush = Mad talent 9. Nuff Said. 10. Grand Gusto Domino (leader of the Sure Shot 4 mcs) out!

Howie Tee and Jeff had a smiliar sound, very clean and precise and rhythmic swing and very musical transformer scratches. I wish HT did a bit more scratching on record, he did a great set at UK Fresh 86 though.

Dope. He answered a lot. There should be a part 2 just for his production. He was extremely innovative & unique on several cuts. Just look at "sampling" Big Beat for Roxanne Roxanne in 84. No one was really doing that. There was tape loop before this and the sampling onslaught of 86. Although just his idea and his equipment, that was a groundbreaking thing attached to a monumental song.

Whistle was one of the Greatest groups of the 80s from the mind of Kangol Kid. I didn't even know that was his group until he said it on Sway a few years ago. Transformation is probably one of the best cassette tapes I held in my hands because Whistle was making their transition from Hip Hop to R&B. So on side A, was all raps , and on side B was all singing. Once again, the genius of Kangol Kid (R.I.P.)

When I was a kid with my first boom box (Emerson dual cassette), one of the first hip hop joints I fell in love with was "Success" by CD III. It wasn't until I was in my 40s that I found out that when they said "H. T." in the song, they were talking about Howie Tee!!! If you haven't heard that song, check it out. Better questions could have been asked but still a nice interview. Circa the early 80s, I'd hang out at a friend''s house after school. His older brother, whom I never met, had DJ equipment and records in their basement. One day when I was there I saw one of the CDlll as he was leaving..It could have been you. Get Tough had just came out. (pause ). And then another day I went to the basement and I saw a Linn Drum (for the first time) sitting on the bar. Looking back, I think it was yours.. The East Flatbush /Crown Heights area is the most underrated NYC territory in rap reggae soca and r&b music. Other things too. Iykyk RIP Kangol and Educated from the UFO CREW (original name).

Yo one question real quick, why Marley and them other dj's never really gave Hit Man his props Remember he was putting out joints the same time Marley was making history. Put him in the record books. What is it a Brooklyn thing that they choose to keep his name out of Conversations. Jamaican Brooklynite. One love . I enjoyed listening to You. Another of the Artists have direct line from Jamaica. Check it
