In the Halls of Hardcore Hip-Hop Fame, there stands a statue of a man 6' 3" and solid as granite. That figure is of Just-Ice, a Bronx New York emcee that is heralded as a pioneer of Hip-Hop from the onset of rap music's transition to harder textures.
Chuck "Jigsaw" Creekmur talks to Just-Ice about his new music, namely the song "Get Your Drink On, Get Your Freak On!" which pair the rapper with longtime producer Mantronix. Things get really interesting when Just-Ice travels down memory lane and speaks his mind. He talks about everything from KRS-One to the MC Poet (Blaq Poet) to his relationship to genius producer Kurtis Mantronix.
He also reveals he never met RZA as portrayed in "Wu-Tang: An American Saga," but explains relationship with Popa Wu AKA Freedom.
He say he started gangsta rap, but says Ice-T started making records before him. "I started it, before NWA, before anybody else," he says. "Ice-T started making records before me, but he wasn't talking no gangsta sh#t."
He also makes the startling revelation that Heavy D stole a song idea from himself and KRS-One, a brazen act that upset them both. Nonetheless, he says he has nothing but love for his Mt. Vernon brother. There's a lot to unpack in this interview. Peep it!

I remember growing up during the Golden Era of Hip Hop during the late 80s and during the summer we would have Westbury Day in New Cassell Park in Westbury Long Island which was one of the biggest jams in Long Island along with Wyndance Day Amityville Day Hempstead Day and Roosevelt Day. People from all over Long Island and from the five Boros would come to my hometown to party and vibe to the latest Hip Hop R&B and Reggae joints . When the DJ who was Doctor Dre from Yo MTV Raps who was from our hood would throw on Joints like Latoya by Just Ice or Going Way Back the whole park and hood went crazy . Those classic records we grew up on. Just Ice gave us classics and I remember when Just Ice was on the run he was living in Roosevelt Long Island the home of Doctor J Public Enemy Eddie Murphy.

Peace. I gotta disagree. Let's take it to the foundation. We still got schools in mecca and medina. Both say Allah's Nation of Gods and Earths. This is NOT slang. The term 5 percenter is slang. The father never referred to us as 5 percenters. He called us the 5 percent. Peace!

@awaal1600
@awaal1600 2 жыл бұрын
@@mrw3905Peace, not a new jack either, gained knowledge in 85, perhaps I misspoke. Let me clarify. 5 percenter is the slang or colloquial expression that is used to identify us by others and by some of us when speaking to others. Our nation is Allah's Nation of Gods and Earths. My apologies you are correct in that instance, but again that is the slang. Ive been in mad ciphers having that debate about the term 5 percenter. I was commenting on the God saying Allah's Nation is slang. Proper Education Always Corrects Errors. Thanks for pointing out my error.
@mrw3905
@mrw3905 2 жыл бұрын
@@awaal1600 peace however even that point is incorrect. Allah referred to us throughout the interview as 5 Percenters. Also when did Allah say we're the nation of Gods and Earths?
