The thing is I liked another safety like this who played for Florid and I thought he was going to be great. Matt Elam played almost exactly like this but he has not panned out, I still think Karl is a very exceptional player.

Karl Joseph is 5'11-195 he's not undersized for a saftey in college... He's basically around the average size of 70% of the safties in the NFL Examples: 1)Earl Thomas: 5'10 -202 lbs (1 inch shorter & only 7 lbs heavier) 2)T.J. Ward: 5'10-200 lbs (1 inch shorter & only 5 lbs heavier) 3) Devin McCourty: 5'11-193 lbs (Same height & 2 lbs lighter) 4)Micha Hyde: 6'0-197 lbs (1 inch taller & only 2 lbs heavier) 5)Antoine Bethae: 5'11-203 lbs (Same height & only 8 lbs heavier) 6)Mike Adams: 5-11-200 lbs (Same height & only 5 lbs heavier) Must i keep going lol The point is he's only like 5-10 lbs away from being a good size for his playing style to convert to the NFL and when he gets ready for the NFL Combine he'll easily gain those needed pounds but for college football he's fine

Hope the three picks in game one of the season put the coverage talk to bed. Karl Joseph can play a the next level at SS even if he is undersized and is not a traditional over the top guy. As much as those type of players are needed in the NFL (cover safeties), the NFL has a piss poor group of defensive backs as run defenders. Often times the secondary are left doing the tackling when a runner gets to the edge or knives through a missed LB run fit. Joseph is probably the most astute run defender from the defensive backfield in the entire country.
