I don't get why "225" is such a sought after number. I guess it's because in america you guys use lbs whereas here in uk and Europe we use kg. I think 100kg (220lbs) just sounds better. It's when you finally hit proper 3 digits.

@@bigpickenergy5321 it’s a big deal because it’s 2 plates. Instead of putting small plates on like a 5 or a 10 or 25 etc when you can put a proper 2 plates on and lift it, that’s the milestone and why it’s exciting. And Now the next one for me is exciting at 315. lol it’s bro culture too man

It's not the same. Your strength grows differently at 14-18 than if you were older. An adult male between the age of 18-30 will increase strength dramatically faster than a young teen. During highschool you also tend to not be as "ontop" of your nutrition, sleep, and consistency in the gym as well, so that slows it down too.

I hit 225 for the first time after 4 months as well. I was so hype to have done it, thought I was strong. Now I realize it's actually not that heavy, and I'm not impressed when I watch people struggle to hit it for 1 rep. Even when I hit it myself i feel fucking weak bc i know it's not that heavy. Whenever you watch videos like this too you start to notice everyone struggling to hit that x1 rep is also small. We're just beginners at the time of hitting 225 for x1.

frankly unless someone has insane genetics or is very heavy naturally (tall and broad) they aren't benching 100kg after 4 months... the best way is to know how much they benched when they began. usually either they used do heavy work without directly training to bench press.. or they used to workout and bench press, got to 100kg then stopped, and picked it back up again a year or 2 later or something and worked back up to 100kg in 4 months. People like to brag but it usually takes a lot of work and time to get that strong from baseline. Someone who has never challenged their body or worked out in their life will take much longer than pre-trained people.

Getting your bench stronger isn’t just about benching all the time, bench twice a week but also work on the supporting muscles. Your upper back, shoulders, core and triceps. Sometimes people get too obsessed with benching, it’s important but it’s not everything when it comes to increasing your bench press
