When you start playing better players, they're going to punish you for that. If you get good at this shot, you can actually attack them and reset the rally on your terms.

oh thx. i had this issue but now play two handed. also, during an interview federer said to slice bh balls that are too high so i usually do that vs hitting over the shoulder if there’s no time to switch to lefty fh
@vincenttran5920 Жыл бұрын
slicing is great recreationally if they are not rated 5+ they will not be able to deal with it consistently. assuming your slice is a poison slice
@al1976-v7m Жыл бұрын
Problem is the slice doesn't work if your opponent is coming in behind the ball.

Yes but that can also be a beautiful and almost effortless slice when that comes if you can prepare

I played against someone who uses a western forehand like Swiatek. When he gets a clean hit, the pace is fast & the spin is extreme. It’s going through the court while spinning & I’m having trouble finding out where the contact point is or how I should hit the ball. I’m a 4.0, eastern fh (like to hit flat) & Single handed bh that has spin comparable to western fh grip 😂.

Wow amazing one, what about double handed? Especially the part about the angle, could you elaborate on that with examples on the court? I imagine the angle not only depends on your position on the court but also the speed of the ball?
@mrxman5818 ай бұрын
Hit the ball earlier, and don't let it get above your shoulders. I know, easier said than done. If you can't, simply hit a slice backhand. Or, step back and let the ball lower.

Simply add a top hand Eastern, no fingers palm push to your one hander. Then strike as usual and finish one handed. All of us one handed pushers do that. Relax! Get it back.😊

Im not into the tenis fundamentals but is it easier to hit this high balls with a two handed BH? Looks easier to be “loose” with the one handed to create pace
@samprinter7960 Жыл бұрын
2 hands creates more vertical reach because your left arm is closer and easier pace because you have 2 hands
@miguelbarahona6636 Жыл бұрын
@@samprinter7960 No, 2 hands on the racket have less reach. One handed bh has longer reach. Just grab your racket with 1 and then witch 2 hands, and you´ll know,

Take the ball on the rise and avoid the high ball. Slice or topspin will do the job depending on how good your timing is. PM is demonstrating an athletic, laborious technique that is not sustainable for long rallies even for advanced players.

I have a weak-powered one-handed backhand to begin with. Executing a high one-handed backhand with pace is about impossible for me. In this case, I would be throwing up a lob versus trying to drive the ball.
@willkittwk Жыл бұрын
Try driving a cut slice BH with a low bounce and look to take control off opponents reply. Lot of times it's hard for him to generate another high bounce topspin back even pros have hard time. You ever watch say Fed and Djoks hitting low slice back and forth that's usually cause it's hard to come over till the slice bounce up a little more so they can drive over the ball. Watch the pros play with the eyes of a student rather than a fan. And evaluate what and why they're doing things.
