I have been enjoying Jim Hardy's OPS for a while .... but these Josh videos and far and away the best visual aid to help and assist. Sadly I live in Britain otherwise Stanford would be where I would be having lessons. Keep it up Josh and thanks.

Excellent! That's the most succinct explanation I've ever seen about hitting "down" on a ball. Nice visual imagery. I didn't know you could get that kind of data with a Trackman. I wish you were closer!

Josh as usual great video and thank you so much for your outstanding teaching methods. My question is what about the driver are you still sliding forward and hitting down?
@mikeyap910 жыл бұрын
Ha! I've seen videos advocating the forward bump but don't know why and it's not explained why either.. Now I know, thanks to you. I'm in the East Bay, how can I get a couple of sessions?

Josh...great great post.. Only question is....you say body moves forward and down...the down is important to me because I tend to come up out of it. But your head doesn't move down whatsoever...how come?

The driver is supposed to be hit a little more on an upswinging path, i.e., with a sweeping motion to give you more overspin, facilitating roll when the ball lands, in contrast to backspin, which makes the ball stop, which you want most times when hitting an iron.
@warhol20010 жыл бұрын
Doesn't the slight move foward actually take away some of your power? In addition, my instructor always says my head should be stationary and not sway either back or foward. Just wanted to clarify. Thank you.

You mentioned aligning the ball with your center; but, when you took the full swing it appeared as though your golf ball aligned to the right of your center. Was it the camera angle that distorted the center alignment?

Josh, when I get ahead of the ball on the downswing as you teach, I take massive divots after hitting the ball, because by leaning forward on the downswing the angle of attack has increased whereas you take a very thin divot. What am I doing wrong to not take a small divot? Cheers rob

Even trying that move I still cannot get the bottom of the swing low enough to make a divot.

Some good advice but why is it that all instructors seem obsessed with saying the word "golf" as often as they can. Surely, swing,club, and ball would do instead of prefixing these words with"golf" again and again. This happens in sooooo many youtube videos that im thinking all instructors are on a bonus for saying "golf" as many times as possible!!

Don't really need to call the ball a "golf ball" every time you refer to it.
@Jeff-tj4tx10 жыл бұрын
then how do we know what kind of ball he's talking about??

Jeff S yeah, he could be referring to the loose ball bouncing around in your head :P

Neil McMahon actually he gets 25 cents every time he says the word "golf". with all his videos it can really add up. :-)
