What boots are you wearing.
@wildernesswithamani10273 жыл бұрын
I love them. They are Rocky Brand. Full waterproof. They are insulated so they are a bit warm but that's what I've been wearing for years. I like dry feet when I'm not wading in streams to fish. Those boots are great for stuff like launching my boat, crossing shallow creeks, walking through marshy areas. Boots like this are crucial for me once I'm in conditions below freezing. Especially in the backcountry above 10K in the fall.

Hey Amani! Love the content. I'm headed up to Trukee for work this week. I'll be in the Olympic Valley area. I was hoping you could steer me in the right direction for some after work river fishing. Last week I made a couple stops along the 89 off of highway 80 but, didn't have much luck. This week I'm headed up there with a few 1/8th Mararbou jigs. A selection of spinners and spoons. Any help would be great, thanks!
@wildernesswithamani10273 жыл бұрын
I have luck on most of the exits and dirt turnouts off the 80 from the Hirschdale exit down to the Nevada border. Typically, I walk and fish a lot of river. The bike path makes it easy but you sometimes have to climb down to the water at certain points. I have a lot of Truckee river clips across two of my channel palylists that demonstrate that the important thing isn't any particular spot. What counts is that you get down to the water and fish! Good luck.

@@wildernesswithamani1027 Thanks for the ideas. Im gonna wander around that hwy 89 area for a couple days. If nothing bites I'll go check out some if those hwy 80 pullover spots like in your content. Thanks for the reply!

@@wildernesswithamani1027 After 3 days of fishing after work I finally landed a healthy Rainbow today. Lost all the jigs I brought up with me. Figuring out that water is tricky. Mostly shallow, quick moving water with a few holes here and there. Thanks again for the content/motivation to get out there and make it happen!
@wildernesswithamani10273 жыл бұрын
@@slimeypendleton2590 Right on! Good work! Fishing jigs takes a lot of practice. Eventually, you can reach a point where you can get through the day on one or two jigs. It's definitely tougher as the flow decreases for sure. Glad you got that nice rainbow.

That is my go to jig. Often changing colors does the trick when they follow and don't bite.

where can I get that jig?
@wildernesswithamani10273 жыл бұрын
Those jigs were made by powerbait but they seem like any other rubber jigs of that nature. 'Trout traps' by hawken fishing are similar and 'sierra slammers' are good for special regulation waters because they have no infused scent. I just get whatever is available. I grabbed these jigs and a pack of sierra slammers for my next special regulation trip at the Vons in Bishop.

I have used notorious custom jig (facebook), drew's custom jig, combat custom jig and goldenstatefishing. They all work. You can order them online.

Did you camp up there?
@wildernesswithamani10273 жыл бұрын
I slept in my car. I work full time so my window to produce content each week is tight. I basically get up there, fish all day, sleep in my car, hike and fish on the second day and start driving home by that evening. It's typically a 30-36 hour grind that ends with a long day of editing. Camping out would be nice but If I camp out, I have to set up and break down camp respective to check in/ check out times and spend money beyond my razor thin budget. I hope to do a couple of over night backpacking trips in the Fall. Thanks for checking out the clip and tuning in.
