Great stuff, in Australia the Napoleonic wargames society had a fabulous multi player 1809 campaign with generals in charge of Corps, hex movement and some paperwork (all orders via actual snail mail) it was fantastic and lasted for 10 months. Fond memories of it. Recently I started using the Carnage and glory campaign computer system finding it really good. All the best Cheers Matt W France

Got the impression Napoleon liked to march after the harvest, maybe even more after losing an army to the russian summer

A timely video again Tim. We are in the early stages of planning for a 100days campaign next year. We currently have a battle of Charloi with the prussian objective being to delay the French as long as possible to allow time for forces to concentrate. The longer they hold the greater the starting resistance will be at Quatra Bras and Ligny. Hold for too long though and D'Erlon may join one of the forces due to less spread out nature of the French.

Don't think I've read good old Campaigns in Miniature for at least 20 years but I still feel that I remember that the exchange rate was about 7 Thaler to the pound.

You asked for recommendations for the Stirling area. Really depends if you're in a car and what time of the day you're looking at. In and around Stirling you of course have the Castle and the Wallace Monument (its a bit of a distance), Cambuskenneth Abbey and the Old Bridge in Stirling. Can't really recommend the Bannockburn Centre, its definitely 'Meh' in my opinion and in the opinion of everyone I've ever met whose been there. Further afield if you're in a car you have the Antonine Wall sites. I can recommend Rough Castle, Seabegs, Croy Hill and Bar Hill, all are open 24/7 and might make a nice but rushed evening excursion, but as its light until 10pm its doable. If you want to cut it down to two then do Rough Castle and Croy Hill, both are equitable but the views from Croy Hill are superior. Further south, both at Kilmarnock, are Dean Castle and the Dick Institute (titter ye not !) for medieval weaponry, the Dick also has lots of WW1 stuff, but they both have opening hours. If you're into your Monty Python then there's Doune Castle half an hours drive north west, grounds are open 24/7 I think.

Thanks for putting out the video. Despite appreciating how paramount logistics are to any campaign & a kind of worshipful awe for Berthier I am so inept at maths of any kind I've simply avoided the complications of supply & attrition. My "campaigns" are created by simply rolling 3 dice and Using the sum to determine which of the 18 scenarios contained in Charles Grants "Programmed Scenarios" will be next on my table. I'm afraid I recently offended Dom of Boots by critiquing the setup & result of yet another French disaster when he sought to prepare himself for your upcoming Blk Pwdr meet up. It was the attack/defend BUA's scenario. This would be at least the third battle report of his where the French must take a number of BUA'S, from his latest army of anybody else, already installed in the buildings with the same point values on both sides. Apparently, these already occupied BUA's are not included in the points costs of the occupier? In Blk Pwdr BUA's are really fortifications, they are so hard to take. Usually, requiring at least a 3 to 1 if not a 5 to 1 advantage to the attacker to achieve success. I have seen BlkPdr games where a 1/2 battalion of Britt Rifles have destroyed 3 battalions of French Line in a BUA. So, I think its a problem equal to Britt Cav. sweeping advance or the nearly complete waste of points for artillery of any allegiance. Just saying, remembering the big Ligny game and wondering where France could have ever gotten enough engineer companies to make a difference. Hugs,

It's certainly a tough scenario for the attacker. I think I've balanced it by allowing the attacker a higher total of VPs, bit perhaps if this one doesn't quite work, it'll get tweeked for the next time! It's no direct science and I'll be learning a lot from it!

One hope is when I move less to make friends to do campaigns and such with! My armies are french and Austrian for Wagram, but i think a campaign in Spain would be very interesting.

I have continued battles, results of one game matters to the next like with casualties. Historicon is next month and scheduled for 2 Waterloo games
