Painting 1/72nd Neapolitan converged regt of elite companies from 5th, 6th and 7th line regts at moment. The most colourful unit ever ?? 1813 campaign. White uniform, green, orange and yellow facings plus red, green, amarath plumes, cords, etc😊 Minor states are excellent way in, as can do full army. Will never manage that for the big powers.

Good game but would never get a brigade off that table - need a lot of triple moves and that’s with no one trying to g to kill you
@ForlornHobbies4 күн бұрын
Tim has a strange obsession with making one of the objectives in games being making things leave the table, whatever the size! It was a fun game to play though
@sirrathersplendid48252 күн бұрын
Never understood why you would put such a short turn limit on a game like this. Makes absolutely no sense. A game turn is of a purely fictional length and represents an arbitrary length of time, so should expand to suit the scenario not be constricted by it.
@ForlornHobbies2 күн бұрын
@@sirrathersplendid4825 the turns were mainly due to time constraints on the day, as a few of us had long trips home so couldn’t play too late on the Sunday. But we did think it was tight, but 8 turns would be enough to give a good sense of what direction things would go. And as it was the British army was broken so would have been removed/fallen back anyway if we carried on
@sirrathersplendid4825Күн бұрын
@ForlornHobbies - Fair enough. But if you know the real-world time limit, what’s the point of adding an in-game time limit as well? Especially if it’s unrealistic. I can understand something like “dusk begins to fall at turn 8”, which has specified consequences, e.g. reduced firing ranges, flakier unit-morale, etc.
@anthonyhinton-west99444 күн бұрын
Did you consider staggering the arrival of the whole Fr Corps, it seemed like quite the sledgehammer deploying all at once! Mind you, the defeat of the Nassau Bde in the 2nd turn was a bit of luck for the Brits.
@ForlornHobbies4 күн бұрын
I put the dodgy Nassau rolling down to Tim loitering suspiciously around my dice 😂 but tbh we just got things out as we were figuring out the forces and decided it would just be easier to keep the infantry out rather than putting them away again.

Unless you play it that Grouchy march to the guns i dont know how else to play Wellingtons trap and Bluchers coming to his aid was a complete mouse trap,French did not have much options the only hope was if Ney didnt bash the French Cavarly reserve into smitherines.

Murat wasn't King twice. Duke if Cleve-Berg, then King of Napkes. The cavalry charge Murat led at the battle of Leipzig is incorrectly stated by you. It was at the Battle of Leibertvolkwitz, fought separately from the Battle of Leipzig, was the place that is on record (you should have highlighted this), as the biggest cavalry battle in history.

I speak Spanish and Russian(besides English of course), although I’m neither-I’m Mexican. I can attest that Russians don’t think much about Waterloo. Their focus is, unsurprisingly, on Napoleon’s failed invasion of Russia in 1812. In fact, I’d say the average Russian is just or more aware of this event than even Germany’s invasion during World War II. The other "Great Patriotic War" in Russian history, against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, also holds significant relevance, as it ensured the survival of the Orthodox Church. This might be partly because great Russian novelists have immortalized Napoleon’s campaign in their works. Tolstoy’s War and Peace is the most famous example, but Pushkin and Dostoevsky also set their narratives against the backdrop or context of Napoleonic conflicts. As for Spanish-speaking countries, the perspective is more fragmented because Spanish is spoken far beyond Spain itself. In Latin America, Napoleon IS associated with Waterloo, as Latin Americans often don’t draw the (very obvious) connection between Napoleon’s invasion of Spain and the triggering of the Spanish-American Wars of Independence. In Spain, Napoleon is of course, primarily linked with the Peninsular War (the Spanish War of Independence as is known there). Although typical Spaniard knows much less about the conflict compared to the Russian. Russians are very patriotic, while Spaniards remain as divided as it was 200 years ago, so the way Napoleon’s invasion is remembered (if at all) depends largely on where you are. A Galician, Andalusian, Catalonian, or Basque person might have very different perspectives on the legacy of Napoleon’s invasion. On a personal note, I’ve recently started collecting Napoleonic miniatures for the first time. I usually play Pike and Shotte games set during the Spanish-Dutch Eighty Years’ War-the heyday of Spanish dominance in Europe. This time, I’m focusing on St. Cyr’s campaign in Catalonia. The diversity of uniforms is fascinating: the French had their typical light, line battalions bu also a small ragtag Pyrenean conscripts and a contingent of Italians and Neapolitans, while the Spanish fielded their typical collection of colorful battalions.

That metal command is the worst figure in all wargaming history. I grabbed a spare Perrys Horse( 14 ) and dropped the rider on that. With The Warlord Lancers I chopped the hand and reset the Lance Alignment to Vertical. I got a whole lot of Transformed warlord/Perry horses and cheval , lancers and Hussars spares into mock up of some Russian Cavalry before any kits came out . Made the lengthy saddle blankets with GreenStuff
