Great video Just one thing..if you can help me out.. My hive camera is connected but has zero signal bars My hive light bulb is connected with 4 bars of signal also my hub as well Why is it that my hive camera can't pick up signal ...any suggestions

Interesting, try moving the hub or place it somewhere not too close to the router. Also move the camera around to see if there are any interference issues

Great first impressions review, are you planning to do a more in depth one if you're planning on actually using the Hive View? Two more questions, does the SMS notifications cost anything and can you turn off the green LED on the camera when watching via live view?

Hi, thanks. I will be doing a more in-depth review soon. The SMS hasn't cost me anything in the UK but when you go abroad it will cost you to receive depending on what you SMS plan is. I recommend using push because it's instant. Also in the app you can turn the light off.

How accurate is the detection though? Do you get many false alarms... Or missed events?

Very accurate and you can even set times not to send notifications. It detect sound too. I had a bottle of sprite yesterday and it popped, the camera picked up the sound.

Just boxing mine up ready to send back to Amazon for a refund. I cannot distinguish between the anomalous faults with mine and its design flaws so bare that in mind. Problems were as follows: Defect with magnetic contacts which activated the "disconnected" chime ~5x day. I was once inundated with "Going...", "Going...", "Gone" e-mails from Hive overnight while the camera was mounted. These chimes triggered small recordings when sound detection was enabled. Sound detection triggers could not be heard in playback and it did not detect me stomping around in the same room at high sensitivity. Night vision was OK at short range but the Infrared rendered me unrecognisable. Detected me in the dark at ~1.5 metres but no further. Be sure to eliminate foreground objects that steal its focus in the dark. Enabling motion detection caused it to be triggered by dust ~1x/30mins. People detection, the only workaround was sensitive to my dog. I'd receive notifications with thumbnails of my dog's face when it "detected a person". Not pet friendly as advertised. There you have it. IMO, the Hive view is a fun toy but I don't think it is a market ready security device. Hopefully Hive will address these problems in a V2.

Does it not have any onboard storage? I bought a £35 AOBO 1080p spy cam and added 64gb of onboard storage to it which will give 1 month of recording, which I can retrieve remotely. Even though I have hive system already I would not buy this overpriced system. There are much cheaper ways to achieve the same functionality. You are just paying for its looks.

No, it doesn't have an onboard storage, it's cloud. Benefits of the cloud are you can store as much as you want and if your camera fails or memory card fails you still have your content. It's 1080 fhd footage is also good especially when it comes to zooming in on content. You also buy into the ecosystem and IoT. Yes it's expensive and you can get a cheaper version, but you get what you pay for like buying a cheap action camera vs a GoPro.

Watching that video recently how hackers used a device aimed at a house, to pick up the car key code to unlock the car in the drive and drove off in it.... I can see at some point hackers using the technology of this device to hack in and spy on families sitting down in homes, without them even knowing... Even being able to use the technology to know when someone has actually left the house live. :O
