I never bring the individual strings to pitch while the others are off. You put the string on and you bring them up slowly together to keep the tension as even as possible across the neck. You do have to be careful because uneven pressure can assist in necks twisting.

Yes, he clearly shows how to make it go over then down when putting these strings on so they don't slip at the pegs. That's what I needed to see. Thank you.

I appreciate new ideas, methods, and ways to improve whatever I do in life. Hix brothers just introduced me to a different approach in changing the Ukulele strings. Mahalo brah from this Hawaiian Braddah!

New ukulele owner, wanted to get some better strings on it. Watched a handful of stringing videos and just wasn't getting it right at the peg. This saved my day.

string number three which would be our second string??? How does that make sense? Maybe explain the 1st string is usually highest pitch but... ukulele? different.

Thanks for your description. I am totally blind so these good verbal descriptions help. I'm waiting for mine to get here so I will just take the strings off slowly so I can better tell what you meant by the tail and wrapping. I was once a bass player.

Peter, Great explanation on the stringing segment of this operation. Since I'm brand new to this instrument, can you enlighten me as to what sequence the strings are installed. For instance, I have a baritone uke so the tuning is D-G-B-E. Is the D string at the top or bottom? My wife has a soprano uke with G-C-E-A tuning; so is the G at the top or bottom? I must restring both instruments since they're ancient and don't seem to hold their notes more than a strum or two. I'd like to do this right the first time. Thanx for your help!

Perhaps I'm mean but I don't cut the strings so that I can keep them for spares. (Better than nothing in an emergency).
@jordanr22448 жыл бұрын
spare? you should never use the same string..it will sound like shit

While immeditaly it sounds horrible, 4 is so fine that you can touch both heads of a 9 volt battery to it and it will catch fire.

Just doing mine today. Gives the frets a nice smooth polish. I clean very will with Dunlop 65 after that. (Actually I use Naphtha in between the steel wool and oil but I'm hesitant to say it because some people freak out about using Naphtha on a nice Uke.

...it doesn't seem like you completely know what you're doing, man. Never cut your strings before you're done restringing.
@mikeyelric13007 жыл бұрын
Allison Larabee also don't you wrap the string twice at the bridge to prevent slipping?
@juliencloud237 жыл бұрын
Anaphora, I wrap it three or four times just in case.
@juliencloud237 жыл бұрын
I meant knots. Haha. You can wrap it once and use multiple knots

I’m wondering if he did it that way bc it looked like he was using wound Low G and C strings? Maybe they get put on differently??
