HJC C10 Helmet Review at SpeedAddicts.com

Just bought myself a brand new C10 and thankfully it comes 22-06 certified. I dont know if USA Market HJC Helmets shells and padding are physically different to the rest of the world, and the US is getting the shorter end of the stick there...

Several sites in Europe ship free here. Problem is most Americans are stupid and pay no attention. Crazy how many people are leaving reviews on dot only lids saying they bought it for the ece 22.06.

Unfortunately, it's all of North America that is getting the short end of the stick. I emailed HJC and asked if their DOT and ECE C10s are the same. They said, "The two safety certifications are tested differently so the helmet will be different as how they are tested. When it comes to structure and performance of the helmets they are exactly the same." This sounded like it was the same helmet with two different certifications (DOT vs ECE) depending on the market. So, I asked directly if the DOT helmet would pass ECE testing, and they said: "No, it will not pass the ECE testing as in North America the helmet only is able to pass the DOT certification. The two safety certifications are tested differently."

I've worn mine daily for 1 year. Very comfortable and good field of view. Tackling wind at 20 30 mph not so much. The cheek pads on mine are becoming quite loose now, and the visor mechanism seems to be wearing out as my visor keeps dropping down when I'm walking around. Overall not bad at all for this price. I also bought the dark tint visor for €45 and its easy to swap out when I need to.

I would recommend a Cardo unit. The Packtalk Edge/Neo or the Freecom series.

Mr HJC please put double ring in the ECE helmet too. I can’t understand why are you putting it in the DOT version and not in the ECE22.06. It’s awful that in Europe you have to buy a >350€ helmet to have double ring.

@@SpeedAddictsTV it could be because this entry level helmets in Europe are usually used for scooters and maybe this users prefer an easier system. It’s not my case, but I’ve been using double d rings for many years and I do it automatically in 5 seconds. My 8 years daughter learned how to do it herself in 3 minutes, c’amon!!

I have an ebike that top speed reaches 60mph was just using a regular bike helmet when i went riding my son bought me this helmet for fathers day an i love it only problem i had was fogging up but bought pin lock attachment an it fixed it

why would you ever want D ring instead of quick strap... THe only reason i'm not buying this helmet for my gf is the strap. Takes too much time to secure and fiddle

​@@JOHN-uj4zgLoop a wire helmet loop around the chin piece. Plenty of scroats will just cut the DD strap and wear it to steal the bike too. Cant do that if you use the wire around the chin piece. The micrometric faster on these is good and can be done-up and undone with gloves on.

If you did remove the strap, then it would void the warranty on the helmet.

Unfortunately, pinlock inserts are for one specific shield and not interchangeable with different models.

The c10 meets ECE 22.06(outside of US only, different eps liners)while the i10 meets Snell2020 standards. Aside from that, it looks like venting is different, and the visor mechanism is different

Just tried it on in a shop and compare it with the CS-15 that its suppose to replace, other than the fact that it is 2206 certified, nothing else favours the C10. intake and exhaust vent built quality and detent on the intake is much more snappy on the CS. C10 does not have visor lock mechanism which CS has. Liners, C10 liners is so soft and no volume to it that it feels so cheap comparing the CS. I'll stick with the CS until they're discontinued.

Exactly the things In noticed when I compared the CS15 and the C10 at a helmet shop earlier today. Will definitely go back to bring home a CS15. Edit: also love the breath deflector that the CS15 has.

I dont see myself upgrading anytime soon, I've got other helmet for weekend and track but CS15 will remain my daily, might buy 2 next time before they go off the shelf for good

It's $120, you're not really going to find many helmets with a flip down visor at that price point. But if you're just looking for a good inexpensive helmet, since ECE 22.06 is virtually identical to FIM Phase 2, kinda hard to beat

@@Schmitzelhaus I’m gonna be 100% honest…. Lol, I did NOT know it was a sticker lol. My old helmet was an HJC I-10 I believe, and it never came w/ a sticker. But, I wound up getting the Strada 3…however, I still like HJC and I might wind up getting one for the content / moto setup. Thanks for telling me man !

@@TopshelfJunior I kinda figured, no problem man. For what it´s worth at least, i´ve racked up about 5000km with the C10 and i honestly can´t really report anything negative, which is to me pretty amazing considering i paid 99€ for it. Haven´t even bought the pinlock for it since, unless it´s cold and raining, haven´t had any issues with fogging up, and a simple anti fog spray worked so far. The dark tinted visor for less than 50€ is also way better at twilight compared to my old UVEX i had before, so generally a pretty damn good deal if you ask me. Ride safe! 👍
