Brilliant vid! That yellow film is a bugger to get off and find the edge! I just sat it on my lap and slid it in the pinlock on one side, then folded it onto the visor until I got the the other end, then slightly flexed the visor ever so slightly outwards so the other pin lock slipped into place. Job done! Thanks again! 👍

Used dark in summer in S. Europe (no need ever in the UK). Only problem, it does nothing for fogging spectacles in winter.

Just bought a transitions lens for my Shoei RF1200. Don’t have any opinion on applying a pinlock insert on this type of visor? Are there any downsides? Thanks in advance!
@ToxicVaccines_HivHoax5 ай бұрын
Excellent instructions. When I bought my AVG helmet it came with a free pinlock. The guy at the Honda/infinity shop installed it on the visor. After a week of use the pinlock fell off my visor. I put it back on but it kept falling off. Then I took the visor off to see what was going on with it. And I noticed that the pinlock is a few millimetres short of where it needs to reach at the two little screws. So now I have to take it back to the shop and have them sort it out. By the way, pinlock is extremely effective. It reduces fogging massively. I would say completely eliminates fogging in non winter months. We'll see how it performs in winter. But I would highly recommend it anyways. 👍

Might be useful to add that some Pinlocks are available that tint react in sunlight (I have this on my Ruroc), before buying a helmet, also check what Pinlock options are available to you, especially if your helmet does not have a built in sun visor.

Oh that sounds frustrating. My tip is to double check you out 100% have the right pin lock for the visor. If yes then I'd suggest removing, cleaning and reinstalling to see if that helps. They can be a little fiddly. I hope you get it sorted as they should work smoothly. Worst case maybe reach out to pin lock for support?
@rupertrussell15 ай бұрын
You may also want to try adjusting the settings on the pins to apply more or less pressure. Possiable less if it's pushing the pinkock too close to the visor?
@VigneshPai5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your replies. Update: I switched to "fog-off", which is a cheaper and more universal alternative. I plan to change them more often. I also learned that pinlock visors with rubbery beading that traps air are subject to wear and tear, given the visor's exposure to direct sunlight, you should be changing it every once in a while.
@haterhayderАй бұрын
@@VigneshPai did you watch this video at all? everything you said was mentioned in the video, and further elaborated on how it works and make it last. The tension on your pinlock was too high, and the bead is SILICONE, not rubber, and doesnt degrade in sunlight. so youre spreading fake BS info

What position should indicator pins be in before/after installation? Do they adjust the tension and how will you know if the are in the correct position?
@rupertrussell15 ай бұрын
There is 180 degrees of adjustment. There is probably a small arrow on the pin. It' s a cam so turning it either applies more or less pressure on the ends of the pinlock insert. The insert needs to be squeezed between the pins enough to make it pop onto the visor. If you don't have enough pressure it may not seal correctly. I think trial an error will show you what setting works best. And it may change over time as the pinlock insert shrinks and expands depending on how much water it has absorbed.

Great demonstration - very thorough. Don't think the explanation of how it works applies when indoors. The visor and Pinlock are both at room temperature - any improvement seen indoors must be from coatings - which should have been applied to the visor in the first place.
@rupertrussell15 ай бұрын
The Pinlock has a hydrophilic surface which absorbs the tiny water droplets that form when a helmet fogs up. That's why you have to make sure it dries out between uses. The air lock helps as well.

Definitely, I hate this Pinkock stuff. It makes cleaning the visor a pain and doesn't help the vision...
@msdosnt8 ай бұрын
Doesn’t help the vision? Apparently you’ve never had a visor fog up essentially keeping you from seeing at all. This prevents that at a cost of a little bit of blur and/or interesting light artifacts. It allows me to keep my visor mostly closed helping block cold air on my face and it doesn’t fog up. I’ll take the slight blurriness and light artifacts to cure that problem aspect. Easy to clean, take it off, clean what needs to be. Used it during winter very easily to maintain. Yeah it takes a bit to remove and clean then put it back on. Maybe your expectations are unrealistic. I have needed to clean mine 0 times. The outside of your visor is what gets dirty. If your inside is getting dirty something else is the real problem or you aren’t cleaning it right in the first place before putting it on.
