Thanks Tony. Looks like hjc have learned from the hiccups other flipover helmet manufacturers had related to mechanism issues etc. I have an agv that comes in at just over 1800gr. I'd be concerned with the 1900gr weight of the hjc, as i find the agv just a bit of a strain. At around 1600gr, I tend to use my Caberg duke 2 more often than not.

What havy lid is that? My AGV sportmodular is around 1300 gr and I thought AGVs were always on the lighter side.

@@johnwilmott8063 Did you try the sportmodular? The only real grape I have with it is its poor vision sideways down (where the cars appear in the next line very suddenly. Havy mirror use needed). And it not as quit as my Schuberth C3 but not real loud either. Other than that it is GREAT. You were it all day and your neck still feels fresh.

Nice review. You didn't mention anything about noise. I've had a shark flipover before and found it very noisy over 50mph. ( closed position, obviously)
@cpuuk
@cpuuk 2 жыл бұрын
Yea, noise is an important concern, as I made the mistake of buy a Schuberth once and that was the only helmet ever to give me ringing in my ears. Since then I've only bought HJC.
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop Жыл бұрын
I don't generally cover the subject as there are too many factors that generate noise for me to say whether a helmet is noisy or quiet. It might be quiet/noisy in my specific set of circumstances (bike, kit, fit, weather, riding speed etc) and then it could be completely the opposite in yours. If I experience something that I think would be universal then I'd mention it in my review, but I didn't find that with this helmet. Cheers, Tony

Watch out !!! The hole or placeholder in the motorcycle helmet may not be deep enough for speakers. For example, when installing the SENA 30K in the HJC i 100 helmet. The loudspeaker is approx. 2 mm above the cut-out, the edge causes unpleasant pain on the auricles. The padding is a joke and is even more bulky. So how do I get the hole deeper? If I cut out the plastic at the cut-out and push the polystyrene deeper, I lose the possibility of gluing the speaker there. Almost nothing sticks to polystyrene crumbs. Pouring out might be possible, but with what? Styrofoam doesn't like chemicals!

Thanks for the great review Tony, I’ve just purchased one based on this video. The one downside, which I didn’t check at the time of purchase, is the communication compatibility. The listed compatible items are the 10b and 20b, which are technically limited. Do you know if this helmet will work with the 21b or 50b. I’m leaning towards the 21b simply due to cost. Thanks in advance.
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop 2 ай бұрын
That list is correct - 10B or 20B are the HJC units that will fit the i100. The 21B and 50B attach to clips on newer HJC helmets and the i100 doesn't have those clips, so neither the 21B nor 50B will work with this helmet. I'd suggest looking at a universal intercom if the 10B and 20B aren't up to the spec level you require. It'll be easy enough to fit an off-the-shelf intercom using the self-adhesive mounting. Cheers, Tony

Hello. One question please. When you flip it over (the chin guard) and the visor comes back to its place, can you lift the visor over/up as well? Thanks
@sportsbikeshop

Hi, absolutely - the visor can be lifted and lowered with the chin guard in either configuration. Cheers, Tony

Great review just a couple questions. Is the ece better than snell? Also does this helmet have glasses groove for eye glass wearers? Thank you
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop 4 ай бұрын
Thanks. I can answer the second question: yes, there are grooves for glasses and I had no problem getting my spectacle arms in this helmet. As for ECE v Snell, that's a simple question that requires a complicated answer and I'm not qualified to give it, sorry. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

Hi Tony, thanks for the review! What is about the noise level compared to the RPHA91? Cheers
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop 9 ай бұрын
Without riding the same bike back-to-back it's not possible to compare noise levels. I didn't have an issue with the noise from either helmet (i100 on Suzuki GSX-S1000GT, RPHA-91 on V-Strom 800DE, but then I always wear earplugs (Auritech) while riding. Sorry I can't be of more help. Cheers, Tony

Thanks for the info. I am looking to purchase a flip over helmet and am interested in this one. My concern is that I am using a Sena 50C and am concerned that the placement of the Sena unit behind the internal visor controller would not allow a forward camera view. Do you have any info concerning this combo? Thanks.

@sportsbikeshop Жыл бұрын
Hi Eddie. I've just done a trial fit of a Sena 50C on an i100 for you, and it sits perfectly happily when clamped to the shell. I couldn't use the camera to test the viewpoint, but I would expect it to be fine. I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

@@sportsbikeshop hi - just bought the helmet and got a 50c from SBS as well, can I ask did it clamp on easy enough or did you have cut any of the skirting, in a old helmet it was a right job to get the sena clamp on it. Any tips appreciated! (I don't trust the stick on clamp so it want it clmaped directly to the shell., thanks sbs and eddie

Good video, thanks. How would you say this stacks up against the Scorpion Exo-Tech? Thanks Scott
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop Жыл бұрын
Thanks Scott. I've not spent much time with the Scorpion so I'm not in a position to go into much back-to-back detail. From looking at the specs, the 22.06 homologation is the biggest standout point for the HJC. From there, I'd suggest it will be a matter of which best suits your head shape as there's very little between the two on price. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony

A question: HJC i100 or Shark EVO ES. You tested both. Thank you for your answer
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop Жыл бұрын
Both have their strengths. The Evo-ES is lighter and sleeker than the HJC. The HJC has better anti-mist and meets the new ECE 22.06 safety standard. It depends what is most important to you and, of course, which one fits you best. Cheers, Tony

is this a better helmet than the Shark evo GT?
@sportsbikeshop
@sportsbikeshop Жыл бұрын
Depends what you're judging on and your priorities, Thomas. This has its strengths (22.06 test pass, easier mechanism function, anti-mist sun visor) and so does the Shark (lighter, sleeker). For longer trips I think the Shark's reduced weight would swing it; for commutes then the HJC's strengths come into play and its extra weight will be less of an issue. Cheers, Tony
