I bought one, and it was leaking from the top of the visor, got sent back and received a replacement and it was still leaking in the same spot. I like Nolan as a brand but this model was a disappointment for me.

Will you be doing a review of the new Shark Oxo (which is effectively a sister helmet to the Nolan)? Maybe even a comparison between the two highlighting their similarities and differences.

Looking into getting a new Nolan flip, I loved my last one and I have tried several flips since. Just wanting it to be red to match my bike paint, but this is on my maybe list :)
@thebigoaktree840123 сағат бұрын
Good looking helmet. Much better than the standard flip up. But how is the weight? I had a Neo Tec 3 in XL that I used on a 1000 mile trip. I sold afterwards because it was far too heavy. Plus the mass of the chin bar sitting atop my head (when deployed) was something that I didn’t like as well. Replace it with the GT Air 3. Happier with it. Been looking into a flip over lid for the past 6 months …Nolan specifically. Good review.

I wear helmets to protect evey corner of my head, and this modular design doesn’t make sense to me, remember when I went down face against the floor, the transitional chin of my helmet protects my chin, my face and my forehead. Since the day, I would buy one helmet that protects my head.

It may be difficult to quantify sound resistance but you could still tell us how it compares to the competition.

The only problem I had with my Nolan is the unlock mechanism (pinch and lift) breaks easily. Now I couldn't flip the face and been using it like a regular full face. Wish they'd make something easier like a push button. Nice review by the way.

The helmet is covered by a five-year warranty and issues like that would be covered within that timeframe. I'd suggest returning to your dealer. If that's us then you can visit any of our stores or go to www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/returns to arrange that. Cheers, Tony

I'm choosing between HJC RPHA 12 and Shoei NXR2. What you think, which will be better?
@sportsbikeshop2 күн бұрын
If they both fit your head well then I think the superior build quality and finish of the Shoei makes it a better option than the HJC. But if the HJC fits you properly and the Shoei doesn't then I would go with the HJC. I hope that helps you. Cheers, Tony
@rider2m2 күн бұрын
@@sportsbikeshop I didn't see any difference in comfort. The only thing is that HJC should be one size bigger and many people realised the same.

A good tip with this helmet, if you are riding in rain, keep the secondary vent open above the main one on the chin, this prevents moisture building up around the pinlock, does make your face cold though, so i toggle this for 20 mins or so to help keep the insides clear

There are appeals to both and I don't know which I'd buy. We've just published a review of the US Drypacks, which you can watch here... kzbin.info/www/bejne/on7VnZKkbJuMqLM Hopefully watching both videos will help you decide which is the better option for you. Cheers, Tony

@@sportsbikeshopHi mate thanks for your reply. I was looking at the 30l t pack and 20l rucksack atlas as they can attach to each other if my back gets tired touring, does the kriega do the same ie backpack can attach to touring pack . Also is atlas plastic or metal hoops like the kriega do.

That ability to convert to a tailpack is one definite advantage of the Oxford rucksacks as Kriega bags aren't designed for that. The hooks on the Oxford bags are all metal, like Kriega. Cheers, Tony

I've owned some US-10s and a US-20 since around 2010-2011 judging by photos of them on my blogs. They've never let me down. We added a US-40 Rackpack in the summer to strap to the top case on our R1250RT (and then strapped the US-20 to that!), so we had loads of luggage for a fortnight in Europe and some posh clothes and shoes to wear in the evenings. Thoroughly recommended.

Can the newer 21b integrated intercom work with this helmet? Cant see why it wouldn't unless the battery compartment is different (which seems a silly move from HJC).
@sportsbikeshop4 күн бұрын
You'd have nowhere to clip the control module for a 21B as there are no mounts on the side for it. The older intercoms have a spring clip that slides between EPS and shell to attach the control module to the side of the lid. Cheers, Tony

What is the tıp model of Duke? Duke2, duke x or duke evo??
@sportsbikeshop5 күн бұрын
Duke Evo is the top model. Duke was the original, Duke 2 was a mild update, Duke X is the same in essence but updated to meet the new safety regulation and the Duke Evo is a Duke X with an upgraded comfort liner and different visor attachment system. Hope that helps. Cheers, Tony

Please dont buy the sqwal i3 if you plan on riding in the rain for more than 2 mins as it leaks significantly both through the top of the visor and top vent even when closed properly. When sent back under warranty shark uk refused to reimburse me and said everything was fine when clearly it wasn't - disgraceful post sale support! Shame on you Shark UK! Luckily Helmet city was great as they tested it and confirmed my claims so much so they refunded in full and apologised for sharks shameful attitude. Ps. Also Its noisy and ventilation is week my old rpha 70 is miles better and only 97db vs 101 of the shark! My new Scorpion exo gt sp is much lighter 1350g, safer 4*sharp rating based on the r1 results as it has the same apex shell tech with 7 layers (2 of which in carbon fiber) has great visor detents and rain seals and quiet enough 99db so its the best sport touring helmet ive ever owned value/money/quality wise! Ride safe.

Just received this helmet, sent it back straight away. Not a single reviewer talks about the cons of this thing. Massively bulky compared to competitors, peak is extremely flimsy/noisy, not enough space to comfortably fit a communication system. Got a Scorpion ADF-9000 which resolves all those issues. Hope this helps someone not waste their time.

Nice review. The new Trench is even more minimalist / stylish to look at. It is quite weird though, that it has lost features compared to the old model?? The old one had both the rear air-vents and the adjustable neck-button. I have a Vertical that I have pretty much worn out. I like the simple style of the Trench, but think I would miss those two features. I cannot find the old model in green as it's now obsolete. Hmm..

Nice little summary but a shame that it only includes well established brands and models and that RST, Macna wasn't included. How can they become popular if they don't get coverage? Unfortunately, all these gloves suffer from the same problem in that they are all heated winter gloves and many of us find them all too bulky and uncomfortable on the bike. I ride all year round with a pair of Alpinestars GT-S X-Trafit gloves which I would say are 3 season or even summer gloves and would love a pair of these or similar that were heated. Even if the back of the hands and fingers were thicker and more padded for the heating elements, the thinner and better feeling of the palm is for more appreciated than thick winter gloves. Overall though, the prices are ridiculous... especially £50 for a cable (Furygan) and when batteries aren't included. Most of these gloves offer very little other than the heat over gloves that you can buy for less than £100.
@sportsbikeshop15 күн бұрын
Thanks for getting in touch, and both are interesting points. I've used popularity with customers as the starting point for these videos, and I pulled together the best options in that regard before narrowing the choice down to the five in the video. Other brands were on that list, but I felt they didn't match up to the five here. That's where your second point comes in - Alpinestars make a thinner heated glove of the type you suggest. The trouble is there's not enough insulation to retain the heat that's generated, so it radiates into the atmosphere more quickly than the other gloves here. In terms of measured temperature inside the glove and my personal comfort levels, I couldn't justify putting them in the top five. Unfortunately there has to be a level of thickness to keep the heat inside the glove so it can warm up your hands. I hope that helps understand how the five pairs of gloves here were selected. Cheers, Tony
@PokerMuppet15 күн бұрын
@@sportsbikeshop yeah I understand and thanks for the reply. It's just a shame that others weren't included or mentioned as these are all very similar and have been around for a number of years so very little 'new' info here. To include new brands/ranges/models such as Macna even as a reference point, the Alpinestars for those that would like a thinner option (I'd need to test that claim for myself) or even Keis' new G901 Extreme which they claim is their hottest glove yet and is in line with their J505 Extreme Heat jacket... I've tried most of those mentioned here and I just can't ride with thick gloves and most reviewers/group tests like yours follow the same path with what they choose to cover. I'm really struggling to find anything suitable.
