@JohnnyBGoode2152 жыл бұрын
One thing about a G3 type weapon that most owners aren't aware of. Because recoil is partially mitigated by the buffer in the stock, storing the weapon with excessive oil on the internals can cause oil to pool in the end cap of the stock. This will then lubricate the inside of the buffer tube and reduce it's effectiveness significantly. To fix this, you must remove the buffer and clean the unit with a degreaser, like aerosol brake cleaner. This allows the friction to do what it was intended to do. I store mine barrel down to avoid any chance of this happening. I also replaced the factory buffer with a heavy buffer, which lessened the recoil impulse dramatically.
@dancampbell91515 ай бұрын
Might I suggest EEZOX. Great lubricant - it's all I ever use inside and out. But be warned - the bees and yellow jackets love it too - but for different reasons. You might have your hands full trying to get your weapon away from them!

Maximum effective range is acquired by the ejected case rather than the bullet, it's amazing how violent the ejection is. It's a hell of a rifle , you can put rounds with good ammo and sights beyond 600+ Mts.

This is a beautiful rifle with the now impossible-to-find wide triangle hand guard and bipod combinations. I have a PTR-100-GI. I swapped out the narrow plastic hand guard and stock for a late 1950s/early 1960s West German army surplus wood furniture set. I really like that look. Do you have a claw mount? If I could only have one rifle (a horrible thought), it would be this rifle. In my opinion, this is the best post-war battle rifle in the world. No disrespect intended to the FAL.

Every time I see one of these I want one. 3-4 months ago I finally tried and bought a brand new PTR91 and found a wide handguard for a reasonable price. I was so excited. Went to the range with multiple bras cases 7.62x51 loads and it would not cycle correctly. Returned it to my gunstore and the gun Smith couldn’t figure it out. Was going to have to send it back to PTR, I was bumming abs didn’t want to wait so I the gun store let me get something else. Sold the handguard and moved on. Awesome video.
@vitis653 жыл бұрын
That sux. PTR's are supposed to have a good reputation though supposedly they do require a break in period. I bought one recently but haven't had a chance to get it out shooting yet.
@BattleBean7623 жыл бұрын
@@vitis65 yeah I was confident when buying it. After 150 rounds with a few cleaning in between a gave up. It just would cycle. I posted about it and Military arms channel actually posted a small clip of his new ptr doing the same exact thing.
@JohnDoe-xu6uu2 жыл бұрын
They have a 300 round break in It's in the manual. It's also recommended to clean it thoroughly before the first round and also manually charging the rifle multiple times.
@BattleBean7622 жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-xu6uu unfortunately many others were reporting the same issues mine was having. I find that it had to be more than a "break in period." I did clean it before I shot it, and in the first 150 rounds i cleaned it again multiple times. I even bought other mags to try. used multiple types of ammo. No matter what I did, it was a single shot rifle. MAC had the same issues with multiple PTR's, i believe he got 3 that all did the same thing. Even after sending it back to PTR he was seeing the same results. Hopefully PTR has fixed these issues by now.
@JohnDoe-xu6uu2 жыл бұрын
@@BattleBean762. Which model was it? My ptr 101 gir only had a few hiccups on the first mag but has been good ever since. Don't know if it's just hit or miss on getting a good one.
