My mothers brother..(uncle)..flew a bomber in WW2, not a Lancaster but a Halifax then later a B24 Liberator. he survived the Flak and fighters only to die in a motorcycle crash in 1951... I guess he would have recognised that intercom chatter. Whats amazing is it all sounds so cool, calm and controlled..

It really does. There's another sample somewhere on KZbin where the conversation is basically: "Skipper, we've been hit" "Have we?" "Yeah, there's a big hole in the nose" "OK" Incredible nerves.

Superb job! Despite its faults as a kit and a shockingly poor response from the manufacturer, you have built a wonderful model and it is a fitting tribute to those that served in Bomber Command. I don’t think it is something that I would take on - lack of space to display it being the primary reason, but the way you have done the clear sections and managed to give enough visual access to all that interior detail is spot-on. Well done!

The HK kit itself was "OK", although I wasn't impressed with some of their customer service (i.e. ignoring me when I had a damaged part). That said, from what I see on Nigel's channel they are keen to listen to feedback and are making improvements to their kits, so maybe. The option of putting one half of the fuselage as a clear part in the kit is great, especially with this model as so much is going on in the inside. The RAF did not have Bombardiers - They were officially "Bomb Aimer"'s - Bombardier was an Army Artillery rank. (As in Bombardier Beaumont from "It Ain't Half Hot, Mum". I guess he (The Pilot) heard the Yanks use the term and followed suit. And, if I recall my Codes correctly the plane is from C Flight of 75(NZ) Squadron. (A and B Flights used the AA code, and C flight used JN code, so it is more likely the chat would have had a a strong Kiwi accent and maybe some Canadian, Aussie, British and Free French individuals alongside them. But you have to use what's available, I think.) But that's aside - that is ONE SERIOUSLY NICE Model you have done (and FINISHED!) I hope my own turns out half as well. (Being a Kiwi, I think I will look at "AA" Codes on mine. Glad I splurged out for the HKM model as it looks bleak for the Wingnuts one to get a release anytime soon.

Superb video- and your build is lovely & crisp. Decals look painted on, very nice. No comment on your work at all but HKM put a pitiful amount of effort into those merlins didn’t they? Same on their Mosquito, which is why I sealed them both up permanently out of view.
@ModelNerd2 жыл бұрын
Yes, with hindsight I was taken in by the scale but really the detail isn't there. I saw a comparison between their 1:32 Mosquito and another (Tamiya's) and the difference was day and night. Then again, I guess their prices are generally lower too.
