It's common in some Spanish countries. I was born in Cuba. On the 24th we'd celebrate the birth of Jesus on the 24th followed by a special extended midnight mass. We would also put up a typical Christmas tree. The three kings would drop off their gifts the night of the 5th and we'd open them on the 6th. No Santa Claus. @kirbyjohnson37563 жыл бұрын
Huh they use 5.56 and 5.45 for room clearing its much better penetration wise than 4.6 and 5.7 so that make zero sense

@@kirbyjohnson3756 from what I heard our soldiers prefer the hk 416k not the mp7 since the mp7 has penetrates to well. It makes it unsafe to clear rooms as the bullet could easily go thru the enemy then the wall, threatening you allies. I dont know if this is thru for other militaries though
@DoggoWillink3 жыл бұрын
Turns out (searching it) they do not have civilian MP7s, so there’s basically no way Matt is going to get one outside of a firearms dealer/show maybe letting him shoot one on site or something. Thanks for your comment though, I learned something by looking this all up lol. Also you basically cannot get an HK416 (a semi auto civilian one, from what I can tell, not sure if they’re just that rare or if again they were never really sold to the public). But you got to shoot some awesome and extremely rare guns from the civilian perspective.
@ludvigfltre57473 жыл бұрын
@@DoggoWillink thanks for the reply. The 416 is awesome to shoot. Especially as a Norwegian. I can't have any guns not made for hunting so shooting that beast was great. I miss it. @random.36653 жыл бұрын
@@ludvigfltre5747 Dude, what Kirby Johnson meant was that 5.56mm (which the HK 416k uses) has much much higher penetration than 4.6mm, so not using the mp7 for fear of overpenetration but using the hk416 instead makes about as much sense as switching from artillery to nukes, because your are scared that artillery will cause to much colatteral damage.

10:47 First rounds were caught and caused the kevlar to bunch-up inside the vest….pulling and tugging created voids in coverage…..subsequent rounds easily passed through these voids!
@mercofgod3 жыл бұрын
this is likely also the first few rounds were at the sides where it was wrapping around the mannequin which would have increased the amount the bullets needed to pass through and also possibly caused them to lose some pen due to the angle not being flat against the bullets trajectory i.e. energy is disbursed by the vest tugging in that direction and also the bullet wants to go straight which is angled which causes the momentum to not come fully to bear.
@MrJest23 жыл бұрын
This is why both rounds are specifically designed to perform optimally in full-auto or burst mode; they are not intended for single-shot use.

A theory on why the 1st shots did not go through and the rest did is because you were shooting At the sides of the vest on the first session with both calibers, And on the second session, directly at the center on both calibers. Effectively making the body armor thicker in the first session. It's the same principle they discovered during ww2 in tank armor. With the Russian T-34 tank slopping the armor had 2 effects. 1) It made the shells deflect off of it. And 2) the ones that didn't and detonated, couldn't penitrate because they were passing through a longer distance because of the steepper slope.

Hey Matt I’ve been curious about the home made Bullet proof vests. I have an idea for you. Hopefully you can try it in a video, I live in Canada and am unable to try it. I was thinking if you take a 1/4 ar 400 steel plate as back plate then layer fibreglass and sheet tin along with Kevlar in alternating layers until the thickness of 1” is achieved then lay said materials into a press squeezing out all of the excess resin until cured. At that point you take some rock guard and spray it on the surface in multiple coats until it’s thick enough for an anti spalling material. Im hopeful that you see this comment and decide to try it. Thanks have a merry Christmas
@lanasmith47953 жыл бұрын
Honestly why would you need the rock guard? That's only really necessary on material that's not supposed to catch the bullet which your soft armor layered with tin( I assume you mean galvanized sheet as actual tin is somewhat of a more rare metal) would be achieving I almost feel as if reversing the hard and soft faces would be better catching the shattered remains of any bullet fast enough to get through the steel rather than trying to slow it down enough that the steel can stop it

Standard Police issue body armor here in the United States is generally a composite of Level III kevlar like he was shooting with a super tough resin binder backed by a steel plate like you suggested inside a plate carrier so it's not even something anyone would need to build except as an experiment for fun

Your first 4 shots were to the left and right where the vest has more flex and less support behind it. The corners can move more and absorb more of the energy. All of the rounds that went through were center mass, with more support behind, less give, and less able to absorb the energy, those rounds passed through.

@@jonwiele7064 5.7 has very high chamber pressure... For a pistol obviously... That's why reloads are somewhat sketchy with it... I remember some of the handloads I shot from my five seven pistol shot a fireball out the barrel...I think with the banshee or the ar57 you may be able to get away with a bit more forgivable loads .. but still was fun having a flame thrower out of such a small caliber pistol and not a wrist breaker. Having owned all three, I would say my favorite is the banshee in 5.7

Matt, when you shoot a vest and compromise the integrity of the weave, you pretty much ruin the vest to where successive rounds get easier and easier to penetrate almost exponentially. A shot vest is a weakened vest and the fiber weave gets damaged and is more loose and unable to "catch" the bullets effectively.

Never shot the MP7, just had introductions to this kevlar penetrator when serving in the Bundeswehr.
@KoalaTeaGuy3 жыл бұрын
Could the reason they were going through the kevlar the second time was because of the way you remounted the vest without securing the sides? (not a gun person, just pointing out the only difference in the 2 tests)
@ryant16263 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing
@TheGooberOfGoobs3 жыл бұрын
Poorly mounted or lack there of it would have the same strength and the bullets have the same penetration. If this was something with a plate yeah it'd be diffrent as the plate only covers the center not much of the edges
@Gelorides3 жыл бұрын
No it’s because when you shoot Kevlar the shockwave from the first rounds creates separation in the layers and weakens the armor with every shot
