HL2 Beta Aesthetics 3.0 | Point Insertion/A Red Letter Day

This is a no commentary playthrough of the HL2 Beta Aesthetics 3.0 mod.
The mod changes textures, models, sounds, and other aspects of Half-Life 2 to give the feeling of playing the hl2 beta, specifically around 2001 I think.

​@@mz4637I couldn't find anything on that. I always assumed it was just supposed to look like an occupied European City. Nothing from the movie really seems unique enough to say city 17 is based on it. Unless there's a traitor combine soldier that starts helping humans and I missed it.

​@@Coccyx69 maybe it would make more sense to compare it to the Warsaw uprising, or Theresienstadt ghetto, which seem like actual inspiration for early city 17. Perhaps also Gaza strip, combine had merkaba tanks at one point, and the Banksy graffiti everywhere. And of course, 1999 was the Seattle WTO riots, when nearby Valve and most americans for the first time watched a modern army of iconic gasmasked riot cops dressed like darth vader locking down an urban city. If you watch that some of that footage, and then "Free TV" Demo, its pretty clear valve was taking notes since they were one city away from the action. There was a resurgance of anarchist movements in the pacific northwest at the time of HL2's development, and there's undeniably an anarchist partisan vibe to the rebels in C17, right down to their spraypainted Lambda "Circle-A" logo
