HM CoastGuard S-92 G-CGML landing & departing Spittal - March 2017

Today Her Majesty's Coastguard S-92 G-CGML based at Prestwick Airport arrived at Spittal for a familiarisation session with the local RNLI crew at Berwick , as well as show off this bird to the local public too.
After filming it land on the football field, thanks to the crew, I had a quick look inside before it then departed to perform a quick bit of training with the RNLI crew at Berwick before heading back across to Prestwick.
The crew were absolutely fantastic and friendly as ever.

That is some excellent footage! One impressive helicopter, I'd love to see this type in person some day. Great to see the landing, startup and takeoff; they couldn't have been in a better location for filming either.

Thanks so much mate. You will eventually one day hopefully. You're right, I was in debate as to which spot to got to with the lighting, in the end I opted for this one on the hill above and it came out alright. Cheers mate.

Het m8, i uploaded a few HM Coastguard helicopter footage to my channel, the super slow motion take of is one of the best slow motion videos ive made to date. I was about 10 meters away from the helicopter also the closest ive took. Jump over to my channel and tell me what you think. I have a few as i stay next to the helipad at a major Hospital. Thanks David. It'll come as no surprise that one of the main topics alot of us were talking about was 118 from last week. Still going to take a while to sink in. I filmed EI-ICR alot when I was over at DUB on exercises and heading out to various incidents. Very sad :(

Its a camcorder mate so I've no idea im afraid. Resolution is 1920/1080.

Pilot Commanding sits LEFT, co pilot sits right.......it is an American built thing......CANNOT do any form of water landing and the S-92's have a horrible reputation in North America...they have crashed and killed MANY oil platform workers and others.....Sikorsky garbage....I have NO IDEA WHY anyone is buying there when the UK MADE the CH 149 Cormorant ( a EH 101 version) For the Canadian Air Force Search and Rescue...THREE engines, all the thermal cameras and search equipment USABLE side doors..............sad....they STOP building a British designed and made helicopter to go and buy a third rate American THING that has been pawned off at cut rate prices......The Canadian Navy tried, AFTER HUGE BS due to Governments changing, get a replacement for our Sea Kings......was supposed to be the AW/ EH 101....BUT we ended up going with Sikorsky for a Militarized version of the S92.........17 YEARS LATER...we STILL don;t have a chopper that is any use....a pile of garbage.....not to mention that Sikorsky is a Lockheed Martin subsidiary now...........makers of WAY over priced and substandard junk.

Is the helicopter a Merlin or a Westland

Neither, it is a Sikorsky S-92. The Merlin is a whole different helicopter.
