It will be interesting to hear the sound they produce in the model. When at Chippenham, you could hear these at least 4-5 miles away when they were at Thingley and an almost unique sound. It was referred to as the kerosine Castle.

I was in a train from Bath to Paddington back in 1952 (or 53) hauled by the actual 18000 when it broke down at Swindon, and had to be replaced by a steam engine. I see it regularly now at Didcot GW centre, - although it is just rusting away and in poor condition.

Seen a few YT channels & comments from owners saying this doesnt like Hornby 2nd radius curves and even some 3rd radius. One guy even took drastic measures of cutting away the wheel vallances over the bogies so it would go round his 2nd radius and stop derailing on his points! Presumably there were no issues on Topley Dale?

I got mine in early october, sad to say I was a bit disappointed. It was missing one of the lamp irons (which Rails have now replaced), one of the whistles was wonky and not on properly, sad to see the floating centre axle continues (the amount of play it has causes derailments of heljan locos on my setup, very noticably on DP2), then there's the squeak it seems to have developed during running in, and the fact it can't run on 2nd radius curves which wasn't mentioned in the product description.

Look at the stunning costs as well. As someone who wants to get into model railways, I have been put off mostly by price of some of which I really want to get.

I used to love watching the real thing rushing past Slough Station. After Kings etc it was certainly different.

Noticed that it's on the widest curve not on the narrowest it keeps derailing on curve's,

Is it just me or does it “wobble” a bit? Lovely looker, shame about the limited ability to traverse anything but the widest radius curves.

The real thing is sitting outside at Didcot, sadly disintegrating.

As far as "non-steam" locos are concerned; there can't be many left that haven't been done now. I'm struggling to think of any major gaps. Am I missing many?

One small detail you or Rails didn’t mention , it needs a minimum of 4th radius curves to run . I have 3rd radius curves so mine went back to Rails for a refund . Very disappointed.
