I have both Preserved variants with sound on order, for me Accurascale are now the market leaders for Model Railway in the UK and have set the bar for all others to follow if they can.

I have to say, I preordered Nimbus as soon as Accurascale announced it. This model is the reason I've got interested in Model rail again after 20 years. A good price and so many images detailing the variants.

I ordered Nimbus back in June 2019 and great to see the locos will be here soon. Love that unique engine sound. Delighted that these models will be easy to customise, being supplied with alternative headcodes (other manufacturers take note). The printed nameplates are slightly smaller than the plates supplied with the accessories so it should be easy to overlay with a different nameplate if desired. I must also say that Accurascale were very helpful indeed in responding to my requests for further information at the time of ordering.

5:58 to 6:30 In laymens' terms: The Deltics' price hasn't changed, unlike the rest of the market and (in particular) the skyrocketing prices of Hornby. In any case, these are great models and I'd like have a look at them and maybe purchase one if they become available here in Aus.

The hornby class 800 celebrate Scotland didn’t go up in price stayed at the 2020 price. But the proof will be in the running. It’s the first uk market R TO R model so fingers crossed they don’t have issues. Let’s be honest the wagons have had issues yet that hasn’t been wildly announced. Yet if it was Hornby it would be breaking the news breaking news!

Raising the bar again. It almost sounds like a paid promotion but Accurascale models are just that good. There's a noticeable difference when you see a company making models out of pure passion compared to making them to meet the bottom line. Here's hoping Accurascale never lose sight of why they started the company in the first place

My 55005 with sound has arrived and it's absolutely exquisite. The detail is outstanding. Seen a few reviews and none have mentioned something I've spotted. If you switch all of the lights on, F0 markers, F12cab and F25engine room, then F1 engine start, all the lights battery drain dim as the engine cranks over, fantastic. My only gripe, and it really is nitpicking, would've been if the sound of the second engine roared from idle to full revs when the controller is advanced above say 30%, that's it, 9.5/10 from me. Good value too.

Have to say the Accurascale deltic project is pretty amazing. Thanks to Mike and Richard for bringing this video. I am with Mike in that I have never really been a deltic fan, preferring the big heavy slow running locos, but these are stunning. Not sure how easy it is to get into the engine room but if I were to have one I would need to darken the grey engines with some oil streaks. They really are ex Donny works as they are !!! Great work Accurascale and Hornby Magazine

Hi folks, and thanks for the preview. The anticipation of receiving "Black Watch" with sound is right up there now, can't wait. I agree with you Mike, the brake on the Zimo decoders is more intuitive to use than the ESU one. One last question about decoders, have you come across Soundtrax Tsunami 2 decoders and their DDE or Digital Dynamic Exhaust, I have it on some US models where the engine sound automatically notches up and down dependant on the current the motor is drawing. You end up with a loco which sounds like it's really being driven, instead of "speed hold" function and manually altering the engine sound like we do here. I'm interested in your thoughts on these, and why the idea hasn't been taken up here in the UK more. Thanks again and best wishes, Dave. Enjoy your "Porterbrook Deltic"!

Interested to know what is better about zimos active braking than ESU
@nitonion74812 жыл бұрын
Eric, do ESU have active breaking now? Any that I have ever seen and used don’t actually need a break as they just slow instantly when you pull the speed controller back, unlike the zimo’s, which carry on coasting until you press the break, which gives a very realistic feel, in my opinion anyway. Cheers
@UndergroundEric2 жыл бұрын
@@nitonion7481 V4 & V5 ESU decoders all have active braking, V5s you can even have 3 different brake buttons depending how fast you want to stop. Its just that people dont enable it. With active braking on, the sound files work a lot better too. On diesels for example you can coast into stations ect without the engine revving its nuts off 😂 The coasting is just done by maxing out the deceleration value on the decoder ect
@hornbymag2 жыл бұрын
This model out of the box doesn't feature it, that was the issue not that either brand is better than the other.

@@hornbymag gotcha! Thats fair enough. Its a shame really isnt it that there isnt an easier way of enabling it without a lokprogrammer or a million CV changes. I put active braking on everything i have, just makes it more fun i think

Thank you gents, must say it certainly looks a lovely thing, I do think however, the negative point that you mention, of ESU only capability is actually quite an important one. In my experience ESU equipped locos drive in quite a toy town manor compared to Zimo. Do you think there will be away to retro fit zimo equipment ? Thanks again !

Staggeringly good models. But I can't help thinking those bottom grab rails are rather too far away from the body. I'm going to look the models up and see what is available and whether they do them with couplings at both ends straight from the box. It will be a 'no no' if they don't unfortunately.
@locohauledforum2 жыл бұрын
For info I did email Accurascale who got back to me very quickly (and early!) this morning. Apparently the Deltics here were fitted with the bufferbeam detail just for photography and the models will be supplied with couplings at both ends. I didn't find a Deltic I wanted, but really tempted with a class 31....
@oceanfroggie2 жыл бұрын
Superb model, looking forward to getting delivery. Agree with Mike about Zimo over ESU for active braking and prototypical driving enjoyment. It's perhaps a minor point, but its nice to drive such a spectacularly finely detailed model in a prototypical manner (ie coasting and driver braking). ESU LokSound5 'Full Throttle' software theoretically can provide the same coasting and active braking capability as Zimo sound decoders. The recent A class ESU decoder lacked active braking as well which was a mild disappointment. Otherwise looks one of the best BR outline diesels ever produced and at an attractive price point. Hats off to AS.
