It looks good. I had already ordered two Accurascale 31s; one from the NRM and one from Rails but the 31 is one of my favourite locos so who knows.

The electric operating coupler feature is nice, but not unique to Bachmann. Marklin and MTH have both had that feature on some of their HO locomotives for many years. As for the usefulness of it, it is great if all you with to do is uncouple the locomotive from the train or wagon/carriage. As for switching, once you want to uncouple two wagons/carriages from each other you're back to using uncoupling tracks (or other systems).

It was only the first 20 locos that were classed as 30 without head code boxes. The later batch without and with headcode boxes were all classed 31. Also the 30s were called skinheads or toffee apples due to their power controller, as all later 31s had a 47 style power controller.

Nope. All class 31s were originally Class 30s until the mirless engine was replaced with an EE one in the mid 1960s.

As I said there was a destinction between the first 20 and the rest of the class in looks and power equipment.

Again, incorrect. The locos that were later to be Class 31/0 were Red Star control system. The following Class 31/1 and later Class 31/4 were the more common Blue Star@@IainDavies-z2l

I don't know who you are, I was a BR driver and drove them for years. So get your facts right before gobbing off. I've got all the manuals for them the Red circle and the Blue star versions. D5500 - 5519 Class 30 the rest Class 31.

Toffee Apple was a phrase used to describe the control interface itself, not the control system (which caused the multiple operation issue).

Poor Hornby they resorted to promoting the competition. LOL. Great stuff chaps. I have a special surprise I will reveal To what I have done to mine in the lead up to Christmas. In the meantime a mind bending scene I reveal in this Fridays Episode. Stay safe stay tuned.

@@hornbymag fair call just see the name and well that’s the way the scotch finger crumbles. Keep it up hrmmm maybe that’s an idea. Dapol Diary, Bachmann Bi Weekly. It’s a shame we are looking the world of hard copy periodicals. KZbin and digital delivery just don’t work the same. It’s like the day Rolex make a digital watch is the day I don’t want a Rolex. Keep up the rockin’ content crew.

They are very expensive for the top range loco but are full of detail it depends what you want from a loco but grea loco with great functionality

Why are you condoning the Bachmann class 31 when you've got your own? You should be having nothing to do with it.
