That was very entertaining to watch. The first pike wanted to bite you in your danglers. LOL. That came close to being a very painful experience. Those things are slimy and hard to handle sometimes. Looks like you’re set up there to live a very comfortable life on the ice with all the amenities. Well done pal.

Always interesting to see what others use out there on the bay, typically I use frozen shiners from previous trips or wax worms but this has me thinking of going to blue sky. Also you should put mats underneath the cot, I find that it does not allow as much cold air come up from the ice and makes you warmer while sleeping or sitting. I always enjoy your videos!!!

Great video as always. Definitely going to try a case of the MRE. Loving the dead bait Carp set up for pike. Beats watching for the flag of a tip up.

Nice video! I learned a lot about ice fishing but could you give me a hint on which bay this is? I’m just a beginner at ice fishing and I’m looking for some spots in the GTA. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!

Hey Shaun do you cure your dead baits to firm them up? I've bought frozen sardines from the grocery store, but they just turn to mush and fall off the hook once they're defrosted. Great video 👍
@ShaunOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
No I don't mate, I buy them by the case from Blue Sky Asian supermarket and then package them into ziploc bags. The secret is to not let them defrost until you plan to use them. These particular sardines are flash frozen from fresh. If you PM me through my Facebook or Instagram I will send you a picture of what they look like so you can show them at the store. I too find those prepackaged ones in regular supermarkets do turn to mush as you said. Cheers!

The TA Fishing Show channel has a video where Graham shows how to secure sardines to a hook for pike fishing using a baiting needle and dental floss. I rigged up two sardines with that method and while I didn't catch anything, they held together for about 2-3 hours of fishing. If I don't have time to bait up before my next outing, I will simply try a couple small mackerel in their place.
