Just bought this pack for winter ops after falling in love with the Unbound 40. Mission dictates gear. 😊

Haha! Agreed. I'm thinking about the SouthWest 70...I'm tall and use a "long" bag and pad. Space in the 55 is a a premium if you have to carry a bear can. Wish the Unbound had a 70. Thanks for stopping by!!

I like the stretch fabric, what I do NOT like about the stretch fabric is that it LOSES its shape fairly quickly. The pass through stretch front pocket(s) on back I question that it will last. I prefer bungie as it is replaceable whereas the stretch fabric ... is not and when paying for Full Dyneema fabric... why bother if one of its MAIN features fails far far far sooner. maybe with those loops on side can put bungie over the stretch fabric as one will ALWAY stuff the front pocket with everything to overcapacity. Is there anyway to get an ice axe on that pack??? My only real question. On side I guess? Enjoy your pack. Looks wonderful.

Thanks for watching! The stretchy is holding up pretty well so far, but I feel your concern and being honest, I don't overpack the pockets. No axe mount on this pack, but HMG has packs specific to icy environments, so maybe look at one of those models.

@@heftyhiker5159 Yea, I'll bet if one calls them they will sew in an ice axe loop. I keep waiting for one of these PCT bozos with trecking poles to slide off and die. Then again, when I hiked PCT only real place to slide off a cliff and die without an ice axe is in Washington. Never understood why all these so called "mountaineering" packs ditch the outside pockets. What a joke, its not like anyone is hauling those mountaineering packs up a cliff, you wear them constantly or they buy haul bags for that. Yea yea, I bought such a bag and its a pain in the ass to use.
