It look pretty much like my Southwest with the same kind of hip belt pockets. My pack isn't waterproof at all. The hip belt pockets get filled with water an a puddle of water forms in the bottom of the pack. So I pack everything in waterproof pack sacks

Sorry to hear that. I know I'd be upset about someone stealing mine. Yes, prices have gone way up, but still cheaper than the competition. I have a 6 year old HSQ Carpenters axe that I use for camping and carrying around that was cheap in the day and the price is crazy on those now too. Thanks for stopping by!!

I like the stretch fabric, what I do NOT like about the stretch fabric is that it LOSES its shape fairly quickly. The pass through stretch front pocket(s) on back I question that it will last. I prefer bungie as it is replaceable whereas the stretch fabric ... is not and when paying for Full Dyneema fabric... why bother if one of its MAIN features fails far far far sooner. maybe with those loops on side can put bungie over the stretch fabric as one will ALWAY stuff the front pocket with everything to overcapacity. Is there anyway to get an ice axe on that pack??? My only real question. On side I guess? Enjoy your pack. Looks wonderful.
@heftyhiker5159
@heftyhiker5159 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! The stretchy is holding up pretty well so far, but I feel your concern and being honest, I don't overpack the pockets. No axe mount on this pack, but HMG has packs specific to icy environments, so maybe look at one of those models.

@@heftyhiker5159 Yea, I'll bet if one calls them they will sew in an ice axe loop. I keep waiting for one of these PCT bozos with trecking poles to slide off and die. Then again, when I hiked PCT only real place to slide off a cliff and die without an ice axe is in Washington. Never understood why all these so called "mountaineering" packs ditch the outside pockets. What a joke, its not like anyone is hauling those mountaineering packs up a cliff, you wear them constantly or they buy haul bags for that. Yea yea, I bought such a bag and its a pain in the ass to use.

One thing you almost never see is anything to do with toilet paper. If it goes in, it comes out. Once in awhile, someone will include a small package of sanitary wipes of some kind, but toilet paper is more in line with what may be needed. Besides, the wipes may be needed for scratches, or wounds, and ALOT of guys (or girls) may not be able to put alcohol on their butthole. Just a thought.

The 28 is a cool little kit I believe they stopped making the 28. But you can still buy the items of it singly and build it yourself. Actually inquired through them if they had any nonstick version of the pot for that one that could be bought separately. No luck though. But aluminum like cast iron. Can be seasoned with oil. Stick your I in on 550° an coat it with oil. Bake it a while. Pull it out stick it on a burner on high. While wiping another coat of oil. An back in the oven an repeat a few times. You’ll get a nice dark golden coat on it. That isn’t greasy an didn’t wash off. I have all three. One thing new they did for the little bigger 25 I thought was pretty cool I inquired about if they were going to for the 27 was. They mad a nonstick sauté pan for the 25. It’s just like the pan on the 25/27 except the side wall of the pan is twice the height of the one that comes with it. So it’s a lot easier to stir up them veggies ect with less chance of anything falling over the side. So the kit still all goes together the same an all. Just the side of the pan is like 3/4-1” taller.
@heftyhiker5159
@heftyhiker5159 Жыл бұрын
Yeah seems like I may like the 28 for when I'm out alone. I think you can still find it on eBay and the like, but yeah, you can put the parts together. I had not heard about the taller pan, I'll have to check that out. Thanks for stopping by!!!
