The Hmong deserve a great respect and honor. We should never look down upon this people for what incredible sacrifice the Hmong did for the US back then. They treated the American as their own and as brothers we should do the same also.

Thanks to Aviation Heritage Center of Wisconsin for supporting the Hmong and enthusiastically telling our story of contribution and sacrifice. Please visit / donate / support them. I bought a bunch of memorabilia, including Hmong T28 shirts :)

The Hmong people saved many American pilots during the secret war. Now their efforts are forgotten, but never forgiven. As of today their efforts are paid with many bullets and death, a great payday. Those Hmong are the Chao Fa!
@burtringo71003 жыл бұрын
The Hmong pilots were part of Vang Pao's CIA backed forces, they were not part of the ChaoFa at the time. They flew under Vang Pao for the Royal Lao Airforce. Look at the decal on the planes. The ChaoFa, I'm not really sure what to think of them. My family was lucky enough to get out of there and arrive in the USA in mid-76. Some of my parents generation who arrived during that time didn't have nice things to say about the ChaoFa. My relatives on my mother's side didn't arrive in the USA until my father was able to sponsor them over in the early 80's. My maternal grandfather was a Lt Colonel. My father and uncles all fought in the war under Vang Pao. I have never heard them speak one way or another about the ChaoFa. From what I have heard spoken in private by some of the other Hmong veterans of the war, the ChaoFa were made up mostly of Hmong who did not fight in Vang Pao's army during the war and could not seek asylum in the west. In order to qualify for political asylum at the time, you needed to have proof that you fought under Vang Pao for the CIA. There was a list of everyone who fought in the war. There are a few that didn't fight, but used the name of dead relatives who participated in order to claim asylum. I'm sure some of you have wondered why such and such uncle's name is different from their actual ID's. I'm not sure if that is true or not about the ChaoFa, since I believe some of the views on both sides may be a little biased.

@burtringo71003 жыл бұрын
Actually, there was a civil war going on at the same time in Laos. The Pathet Lao (communist) and the Royal Lao Government. At the same time as the Hmong were fighting the for the CIA against the Vietcong, they also sided with the Royal Lao Government against the Pathet Lao. Sadly, the Hmong lost on both fronts and became a persecuted people in their adopted country. A lot of the Americanized Hmong and Lao refugees don't seem to know about this, which is causing a lot of racial tension between the two. The older generation that fought in the war still remember and can still distinguish between the two sides. My father, who is Hmong and fought in the war, still helps the Lao community where ever he goes. Our family was too late to register for asylum as Hmong refugees during the initial rush because my father didn't get home from the war in time. By the time we made it to Thailand to register, we had to register as Lao refugees with the Royal Lao people. At the time, there was a lot of "our people fighting our own people". North Vietnam vs South Vietnam. Pathet Lao vs Royal Lao. The Khmer Rouge. Even the majority of the CIA backed Hmong don't speak very highly of the ChaoFa Hmong... privately considering some of them as traitors working for the Vietcong.

Because... Vietcong... commies! Pathet Lao... commies! China... commies! The Chinese drove us out of our lands, so if we fight the commies, we are fighting against our long-time Han Chinese Communist enemies. According to what I can piece together from a lot the veterans, whom I've spoken to over the years. CIA... USA... NOT Commies!
