Great story, lots of sorrow to unpack. The community can definitely look at emotional support for men and women. We can definitely call out extreme feminism and toxic masculinity. We can stand for domestic violence and advise on marriage therapy. Hmong people can recognize our patriarchal system, and make healthier social changes. You can fight for your internal community and external communities. One is not without the other. Sad things to see and hear.

Im with you on the part where our father's generation didn't treat our mothers well or with respects. I remember as a young girl that our father was always put mus tham luas nkauj and having affairs but my mother can't say a thing bc she needs to be a good nyab and house wife....so I do understand where you coming from. Just want to thank you for sharing your brother's story. Thank you for sharing this story. My brother went through the same. He went couple time with the court case and he kept it silent and never say anything bad about his ex. When he went through hardships our family was there for him. Until this days he is still paying heavy child support because I know he still loves her. This is such a sad story and sorry for your loss.

This is an awesome story! Its harder for men in general to express their emotions let alone tell about the hardship they're going through and reach out for help...esp hmong men. I hope we break this cycle with our generations and generations to come 🙏

Although so very sad and unfortunate for the brother's loss, it is the sister's realization and actions that matter most. We can all sit here and point fingers and judge her for being so ignorant and unloving towards her brother but I believe it is enough already for her to live with her brother's death on her conscience is enough of a punishment. It's the awareness now that is what matters most, and doing the right thing moving forward. Kudos to her. Thanks for telling this story so, so wonderfully, Leng. No one couldn't have told it any better than this. 😊

I'm very sorry about your brother Chai. I have been through that hardship with my ex too. Luckily I divorced her and remarried a much better wife. Luckily I am not paying childsupport because she knows she have mental problems but only the hmong people were stupid enough to be on her side. She did everything to ruin my wife because she don't want to work hard and her family always telling her to divorce me because they always hated us because we were poor and our parents divorced too. Believe me, some hmong women will force you to hit them just to have a excuse for divorce plus they'll tell you that you're no good for any other women and dare you to go find another women better, once you do that, you're fall in their traps. Yes, not all hmong men are bad. Hmong women have to know that even though some hmong men will hurt you the most, some will love you the most. I've seen too many hmong girls thinking that other nationality will love them more than after a few back to back relationships they go back to trying to marry hmong men. In this country they support feminist very much that even true goodnmenbare thrown in jail because of bad women. God bless everyone.

My ex wife once said to me that if i truly love her, i shouldn't mind being her punching bag. And when i told her i don't appreciate and like how she's treating me, she'd make me feel guilty such as if i really loved her I'd find a million more reasons to appease and allow her to mentally/emotionally abuse me. It was a toxic relationship that i didn't realize the long years of mental abuse was having an effect on me. She was so good with her sob story that she has all my family duped and against me that when i finally decided to pick up whatever dignity pieces of me that was still left and leave, all my family ua ib tsaus cem kuv tias kuv yog tus phem. So yes, pay attention to the ppl thats around you and dont just take one person's side of the story and judge the other one. Cheers, Peace and Blessings!

I feel sad with your family especially your brother. The child support craps needs to stop. Both parents just needs to cooperate and help one another raise the children. I see that there are those very cruel and evil woman that will abused the court system as they know they’re woman and the judges will listens to them and grant them their lies. I understand that there are those men that doesn’t take responsibility for their children too but either or we can do accordingly to whats right for the children and not because we want to destroy the other person.

So crazy. My sil was acting crazy and breaking things. When she cheated she ran off but called the police to get my niece because my sil was terrified of my brother. The police came and was ready to arrest my brother on domestic abuse. I told them you need to take him to the station and have a lawyer be with him. The police said we don't need to make it hard and just talk with them. I told my brother if you do not show what our sil did and break all the things at home, you will be the one who goes to jail tonight. The police had to see proof in order to not arrest my brother. This is sad because wisconsin is a mom state, because they will take the moms side over anyone's regardless of how wreckless they are.

Your biggest mistake was making assumptions and judgment on your brother for your dad’s abuse towards your mom and so you never gave your brother a chance . A mistake you will never be able to fix. As any human being, you should never make assumptions on any situation until you know for sure. A life lesson learned the hard way for you. Your brother didn’t deserve any of that.

Hmong people need to open up to mental health. Domestic violence is still not okay. Your brother had issues but our hmong brothers were never taught how to deal or cope with problems which tends to lead to worse habits and suicide. No one will know what was not told, silence is not always the way to go. I hate toxic masculinity but I don’t agree with extreme feminism too. There is a fine line we walk with fighting for the right thing and its all situational. Don’t forget to check up on your family members. Women who cry wolf like jay-noj-pho, should be ashamed!
