HMS Coventry Sinking Remembered | Forces TV

Veterans from the Falklands War have been commemorating the loss of HMS Coventry. The Type-42 Destroyer was sunk by Argentine Sky Hawk Jets, on 25th May 1982. 19 lives were lost but 170 crew members were rescued by HMS Broadsword who had herself been damaged by air attack.

Dedosdemanteca true. The Belgrano wasn’t even in the exclusion zone when she was sunk by HMS Conquerer, so personally i don’t think the ship deserved the fate she got at the time she was sunk. A great shame she isn’t around today, with the ship being a Brooklyn class and all. But if she had gotten within main gun range of the Royal Navy’s destroyers, frigates, or the carriers, then the casualty rate would’ve been MUCH worse than it already was through sinking the Belgrano than letting her become a fox amongst the chickens.

So you base ownership of territory purely on geographical location 🤔. It doesn't work like that for any nation. There are many countries that have islands far from their main land. The Falklands has been populated with British people for 200 years and 99% wish to remain so. In fact Argentina has only had control of the island for about 4 years in the early 1800's. Spain spent more time in control. In 1982 Argentina had a dictatorship that killed its own people and showed no respect for the Falkland islanders to decide if they wanted to remain British. They started the war to take the island by force as most dictatorships do. If you think the Falklands are Argentinian then you clearly don't believe in a democratic society and self determination. As a Brit if the islanders voted 99% to be Argentinian I would have no problem. If 99% of the people of the Isle of White wanted to become French I would say fair enough. Thats a democratic free world.

They deserved it, they shot down the helicopter AE-505 which was in a rescue mission after narwal's lifeboats had been machine gunned by the war criminals Morgan and Batt , 1st LTRoberto Mario Fiorito (Pilot), 1st lt Juan Carlos Buschiazo (Copilot) and Sgt Raúl Dimotta (Mechanic) ,were avenged that day.
