John, we haven't forgotten Wolf either. Every time I hear you call for Badi, I picture Wolf by your door, and Badi outside.

I always find this part of the build to be the most fascinating to watch. Seeing how all the pulleys interact illustrates how these ships were truly the high tech vehicles of their day. I'm not a model builder. I'm a student of naval history. Your videos give me a unique insight into the amazing engineering of these vessels. Thank you John. She's looking amazing.

Hi John I must say you are doing a wonderful job with the rigging, the ship will look beautiful when complete. I love this phase of boat building. She will look lovely in you collection, you must be well into the sails by now and looking forward to a break. Regards paul osman

Goodmorning John this ship is going to drive me crazy with the beagle I was nearly there but this one for sure. Last time when I was doing the rigging my dog barked beside me and instead of cutting the extra I jumped and cut 3 difficult ones. I hope it will not happen again . Keep up the good work thank you, John.

Hey John, If you are running out of rigging line I can send more. Just let me know. Also, I saw that some of the rope was unraveling while you were using them. I've fixed that problem with longer heat treatment times, My ropes should unravel much less in the future.
@JohnsWoodenShips2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben! I did run out of 0.45 raw ropes, but i have managed to finish her :) The amount that had in the box was for the Artesania's rigging and i followed another rigging instructions. I have began La Candelaria, if you want we can do the same :)

@@JohnsWoodenShips Hi, John! In La Candelaria's kit I received a metal belfry. Luckily, I checked if it fits in the notches of the forecastle deck (small deck at the bow) before gluing the deck, and it does not fit. If you also have a metal belfry, check if yours fits. Also, for the two chests at the stern, I used 2x5 wood strip (a leftover from another ship) instead 2x4 from the kit. I think the lid of the chest looks better and the hinges doesn't look too oversized. For chest support I used 1x1 wood strip instead of 2x2 from the kit. It is a matter of taste, to make things as tidy as I can. In my opinion it is much easier to correct small problems before definitively placing the pieces. Those are my observations, nothing mandatory. It is a hobby, and, in the end, all that matters is to have fun. :)

Hi John, I have been watching for years and your patience is amazing. I am building the Occre Bounty and am at the planking the hull stage. My question is after watching your hands struggling getting past the ratlines, cound you do the ratlines last, after the rigging to keep them out of your way? My golden Lacey, sends her best to Buddy.
@JohnsWoodenShips2 жыл бұрын
Hi Dave! Thank you for being here with me with all the ships i have made :) It is wrong because you are going to pass many many lines through the platforms and around the ratlines so when the time come to place them you will be in a big trouble. It is hard to pass the lines with the ratlines on but it would be harder to make the ratlines later. Give Lacey a big hug from me! I will do the same for Buddy!!!

Amazing work John. Is there a reason why you not stitch the sails to yards before mounting the yards on the on the ship. Soon I need to put yards on my Beagle build and I am looking for the most efficient why to stitch sails on the yards. I would like to have advice from an expert builder on how to proceed.
@JohnsWoodenShips2 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter! Yes you can do that, i prefer this way because i have a better view with the yards rigging and also it's easier to pass the lines without having the sails. Try to do a couple with the sails on and see if it suits you best :)
