@@s1nb4d59 it was drizzling from all directions at the point she was about to move, and didn't want to block the lens to wipe it off. Typically the sun came out as well making it really obvious 😂😂

I presume they have to pump ballast water out of the barge all the time at the same rate that the weight of the ship is coming onto the barge. It's an impressive bit of work. It's just a pity that the build is taking so long.
@rjonsen
@rjonsen Жыл бұрын
The process took over 4 hours, due to the time it took to pump out ballast water for change in the height of the tide and the changing in the weight 🙂

HMS Glasgow sure looks pretty, can't wait for it to be fully kitted out. Is it me, or the majority of the Type 26 frigates being built so far will carry the names of the Southampton-class (aka Town-class) light cruisers? You've got Glasgow, and then Belfast. Hmm... if it is the case, I wouldn't be surprised if the other ships were named after the other members of the class.
@rjonsen

According to Wikipedia they will be named Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Edinburgh, London

HMS Cardiff is underway being built already. BAE Systems are looking to build a new facility adjacent to there current facility this will allow them to build ships inside and two ships at any one time so that will increase productivity in the future providing they get the relevant planning permission. That new facility will be a while away before being in use though.
