Seeing as one of Nelsons ships at Trafalgar was made in India it was nice to see Hermes go to a good home!

In 1988 we were taken on board the INS Viraat - formerly the HMS Hermes for a visit because of a friend’s Dad who was a very Senior Officer. This was in the Madras Port Naval Base. Itwas a wonderful visit. Fascinating to be inside an Aircraft Carrier.

Built in 1953 and was probably in a better condition in retirement than the Russian carriers are now!
