I worked in the steel processors opposite her berth in Birkenhead, she was my favourite sight from work for 10 years, then early one morning, without warning, they quietly took her away.

HM Government should have saved the old lady, my first ship in the Navy back in 1982.

visited this ship as a boy with my dad his dad was in the navy ..this is a real loss to our historical culture if they had only kept it as a museum but no they needed to build flats on that land ..land that ships like this helped to protect.

The South African Navy was also the proud owner of three Rothesay Class Type 12 British frigates. They served their countries well. What a shame the HMS Plymouth was left to rust away.
