Guys I went through HMS Raleigh back in 1997 at the tender age of 16. Going by some of these video's it looks a lot different to when I went through! At the time I felt like I was in hell, missed home every day and felt like quitting most days too. I'm so glad I fought it out and went on to have an amazing career in the RN with deployments to the middle east, far east & the Caribbean! To anyone reading this thats thinking of signing up - DO IT - and remember, the basic training is just a very small part of the big picture, once you pass out your treated like a human being again, and you'll have an amazing career laid out in front of you. I'd do it all over again if I could but sadly I'm too old now lol - my best wishes to anyone reading this either at Raleigh or past, keep working hard and get those task books signed off! @southsideskate Brilliant mate good luck! Work hard and keep your head down & you'll be fine. When times get tough,, just tell yourself this is only for a short time and NOT what the Royal Navy is really about - once basic training is over you'll never do it again, so try to enjoy the good times ahead and take on the chin the harder times. Once you pass out you'll be joining some amazing ships & see the world!

I'm 13 and I go sea cadets we went to hms Raleigh and it was the best thing of my life with damage control and the assault course was freezing I loved the submarine school can't wait to join hms and the navy

My sister is in this video at 2:38 . She achieved so much and has inspired me to want to join but feel i won't be good enough . I love being outdoors doing climbing and kayaking and more done scouting for 7 years but not sure if i would fit in

I’m 19 and I’m going to Raleigh on July 6th so I’m doing my research because I’ve been fast tracked so I didn’t do the physical test or pre training coarse because of the virus
