this is not easily possible with ABAQUS, i have done it once which is documented here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0020740318336208, see Fig. 10. and the software I used for was B2000++ (which is a FreeWare FEM Software): www.smr.ch/products/b2000/

Halo Dr. Ronald Wagner, I currently doing the simulation on circular reinforced concrete and dealing with spiral steel reinforcement in abaqus. How to model spiral reinforcement as wire part in abaqus? When start creating a part the only option for model wire is in planar. Please help me with this. Tahnk you.

you can create a shell surface in spiral shape : kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIuceXppbNxrrM0 and then delete the faces, then only wires remain in spiral shape.

@@hnrwagner Thank you for your reply. So, the remaining helix curve after deletion will act exactly as wire in analysis like creating standard wire? Meaning that we can apply wire profile and assign beam/truss type in meshing, is it so? I will try to do that and see. Thank you Dr. Ronald

@@hnrwagner Thank you for your reply. I've tried it and yes, it works. Dr. Ronald, how to deal with slip between two different concrete properties? Suppose that a hollow concrete is filled with concrete with lower strength, how to treat the contact surfaces? I searched for zero thickness element but heavily unclear about the theory. Could you give me some suggestion please?

Does the mesh size of the reinforcement and concrete have to be the same size, or it could be different, for example I use 50 for the reinfocement and 30 for the concrete?

Dont know, would try different mesh sizes and check if the results change dramatically

Please help in this Doubt: For suppose as you have divided the cylinder into 8 parts in the above case, if we assign a unique material to each part then " how dose ABAQUS considers interactions between the connecting surfaces of these parts like SHEAR CAPACITY AND FAILURES in these surfaces".
