Hi very interesting video. I have a doubt. In a hollow particle and matrix system, I want to provide the damage model to the ceramic hollow particle and metal matrix. Can you suggest the material properties need to be considered along with the other parameters that you have shared in the video. Thank you.

Excellent presentation. You must have done a thorough research to get this much technical informationn about the ABAQUS implementation and the "secret" switches.

Hi. Thank you so much. Actually I am using Abaqus since 2012. Also there are some other tutorials about damage analysis in our KZbin Channel. This one is a free tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX7KaHSQa6pgqZI And these ones are two premium ones: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoDVipeCg65_kJo kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZnOnmKakeNiDrJo Premium ones are completely step by step. Also if you want to buy each of them or other premium tutorials, you can use the discount code mentioned here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5S7h4Rmr6mImpI

I have some questions on the element deletion usage in the Abaqus/Standard environment: since it is an implicit solver, how does Abaqus perform the solution of the implicit FEM equations and solve the deformation problem when the stiffness of elements become zero (when it is fully-damaged)? That is, how does Abaqus perform the implicit calculation and achieve convergence since the global stiffness matrix, K, becomes non-invertible due to elements having zero stiffness? Thank you so much for your kind explanation. By the way, your KZbin video is fabulous!

@FemexIran 2 жыл бұрын
hi. you are welcome. actually you asked an important question. I think its answer is mentioned in the documentation. as far as I know, when the standard solver is used, Abaqus cannot set the stiffness equal to zero because of the convergence issues. so it set the stiffness to a very small value. actually the fully damaged elements will not be removed from the analysis completely. only they will be removed graphically. even by using this procedure, convergence issues can arise in the damage propagation analysis. but as there is no convergence issue in using the explicit solver, always it is the best choice for solving the damage propagation. this is the link of the preview of one of our premium tutorials about damage analysis via both of the mentioned solvers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eoDVipeCg65_kJo during this tutorial, even by implementing all of the available tricks, the standard solver faces difficulty to solve the problem but the explicit solver does not.

@@FemexIran Sir, this is exactly my question. I am using Abaqus Dynamic, Implicit. I noticed that Abaqus removes the fully damaged elements graphically, but a relationship still remains between elements even after fracture. My question is do these deleted elements continue to influence stress and strain after "deletion"? If so, how can we completely remove them and any effects they may still have? (Using only implicit solver)
@FemexIran
@FemexIran 2 жыл бұрын
@@enriquecernasaguilar7463 Hi. As far As I know and according to my experience, the deleted elements in the Abaqus/standard solver, do not cause any problem or warning or error. Also no critical point is mentioned about them in the Abaqus documentations. If you have any problem in your analysis, you must find another source of problem.

Thank you very much for this useful video.I have plotted misses to peeq in my damage model for one of the damaged elements.However the PEEQ in elastic region wasn't zero!DDoes this mean my model is not correct?

hi thank you for sharing,how to get strain stress curve,average all element‘s strain and stress values?
@FemexIran
@FemexIran 2 жыл бұрын
hi. you are welcome. actually there are to procedures to get the stress-strain curve : 1) using the force-displacement curve. force must be divided to the cross sectional area and displacement must be divided by the length of the specimen. so the nominal stress-strain curve is obtained. finally by using the plasticity equations, we can obtain the true stress-true strain curve. this way works only for the flat dog-bone specimens used for tensile test. 2) using the stress and strain data of a single element and combining them using the XY data tool. the second way is used in the video and it is more exact in comparison to the first way.
