@@vitoman50 do you have a video about refurbishing an older track? i mean, i have a tyco daredevil jump and it looks like in some parts of the track electricity is missing because the cars are not moving.

I can put one up soon. You can check the contract s on the end of the rail to make sure they are clean rust free and contacting the end of the other track rails.

a little on the dark side, hard to see a lot of the details.. but good videos.. however..earlier you said the bushing/spacer in the front of the motor keeps oil out of the armature and brushes.. if you put spacers in the rear and none in the front, you now have oil going into the motor brushes -at least from what you told us/showed us in the tear down.. ?? rather contradictory and confusing.. also , wouldn't it be just a bit easier to have some sort of shims to spread the chassis a bit to reinstall the motor assembly back into the chassis? and.. I think some stamp tweezers are a must for working on many diff slot cars..
@vitoman50
@vitoman50 7 жыл бұрын
Simon Sez There is always a plastic shim on the front shaft to prevent oil from getting in. But the extra shim is a safe guard.

weird questionn potentially, but mainly I have been driving 1/24 non-mag cars. Do the motor magnets in ho cars help with traction in addition the traction specific ones?.
@vitoman50
@vitoman50 5 жыл бұрын
Some cars yes.
@BigRalphSmith
@BigRalphSmith 5 жыл бұрын
Rob, in general, there may be some traction assistance from the motor magnets in some of the HO cars that wasn't actually designed for that purpose. In some cases, the slight additional traction assistance obtained from the motor magnets was just a function of how close the car sits on the track. The manufacturers considered it a "bonus" and went with it. A few car types were specifically designed to allow the motor magnets to double as traction magnets. AFX Magnatracton cars come to mind. As more powerful after-market magnets became available, motor mags got a boost to their secondary (and mostly unintended) function as traction magnets. Just as an aside, I used to race 1/24 scale cars on tracks designed for mag racing. Magnatech Raceway, owned by Jim Hunnicutt, in San Antonio, Texas was the place. Jim even patented the copper coated steel braid used on his tracks and so the only place to get magnetic copper braid is through distributors of Jim's product.
