If I had a car like that, it would have been in the garage

So the HOA has stolen the vehicle, and then illegally sold the vehicle. So an organization that has committed crimes and attempts to hid it. Time to drop a RICO case. HOA's should be stripped of the powers that assign to themselves.

They may consider late model cars an eyesore. Project cars can be sitting in a driveway for months and years. This clearly wasn’t one of those. The impound yard would have known immediately that it was a vintage vehicle. A 69 SS Camaro can be valued, depending upon condition, from $15,000 (in poor condition) to $150,000 (SS, RS, or Z28) in collector condition.

No HOAs have no authority to take people’s cars especially if it is on their own property because what the HOA did is grand theft auto.
@joecool21259 ай бұрын
IDK why some people view antique or classic cars as junkers, when many of them are quite valuable. OP’s HOA found out how valuable his Camaro was. The HOA board members should’ve been made to pay for the repairs personally.

What do you mean the law was powerless, what the HOA did was called Grand Theft Auto which is a serious crime. Where I am from, you steal a car you end up in jail.

I would have liked to get a lawyer involved with the HOA story I would have asked the lawyer to send letters to everyone in the HOA explaining that the President of the HOA didn't know how to find out the exact amount that the car was worth. I would have then explained that the car was an antique therfore that the car was more expensive than the President of the HOA knew. I then would have explained that the car was worth at least $ 50,000.

God i hate these bot stories, why would a homeowners association have its own impound lot?

HOA rules need to be run by a board that checks if they violate city, state and federal laws.

Parking in your driveway devalues the property seriously, not being able use part of your property devalues the property. Ask any realtor off street parking is a value add in most areas.

The HOA Seized the cat because the someone On HOA know how it was and they like you having something they could have. Sound like this HOA done this to money off impound and auction cost, was it they putting high cost of impound cost so they can live off them. How they park the car in impound lot the HOA didn’t’ care or the HOA try to teach you a lesson but you teach the HOA a lesson
@AgnesC11119 ай бұрын
They have their own impound lot?

Ok, both the cops and the first lawyer are idiots, or this is a generous application of artistic license. In no state in the US (maybe Canada since they aren't the US) can a third party except for repossessions, enter private property to seize property without the permission of the property owner, with the exception of a trespass (meaning it didn't belong there in the first place), and cars as well as towing have their own special laws governing those, that also must be observed. What the HOA can do is fine the homeowner or have it towed from the street, but not the driveway unless the state law allows it, which I don't believe any do. A city ordinance does not trump state law,band HOA rules must operate within both states and local laws.
@barbiek39879 ай бұрын
1st story, BS. OP doesn't even know what color his vehicle is/was. Starts off by being Sky Blue and ends up being Cherry Red.

Gonna put it out there... an engine doesn't just die like that. Not when it's impounded. Any legitimate impound lot is just supposed to hold and store your car. More importantly, if they damage your car, they can be held legally responsible for that damage. Again, engines don't just die like that. My guess? They were actively using the vehicle. Which an impound lot is NOT allowed to do. They can get into the car and run it to keep it from stalling out when stored for extended periods, but it seems like they were probably running the vehicle a lot more than that. Probably even driving it around, which is very much illegal since they do not own said vehicle. They were likely running the engine ragged, to the point it had very little fuel or oil left. They intentionally damaged that car.
